AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

Thanks guys, I'm definitely going to play around with this more tomorrow :D

I've just realised something.... am I the only person in this thread clocking a non-BE Phenom2? I can't seem to spot anyone else lol

I decided to start from scratch and seem to have a stable 3.4ghz with everything on stock bar the muliplier of course, the problem is my machine always seems to restart after about 2 hrs of prime when i try for 3.6ghz, could i have some advice on some settings to try and keep it stable, when i tried before i set the cpu vcore to 1.4 and upped the cpu-nb from 2000mhz to 2200mhz thats it.

Would really appreciate your advice

Many Thanks

well heres my 555 . Its about as far as it will go in terms of raw speed (crashed at 4.025ghz @1.55v ... nuff said). i figured an hour will do just to show off - too lazy to carry on XD

normally its set to 3.85ghz @1.4v with 220mhz bus, 11x Nb and HT multi. before anyone asks, ram is set to 1066 due to a crappy bios bug ... ty foxconn.

edit: just for comparison, i turned ACC off and tried to get a few more GHz. it kinda worked ... at least i can see temps now:

annoyingly it will work at 4.2ghz with just about anything but prime. But i will probably never use it in that config anyway...

who actually uses more than 1.5v daily put your hands up :D hardly any i guess .

if it dont do it under that just forget it as its not worth it.

seen some on here pumping 1.6v :eek: burning cpu anyone :p

you will know once you get up to about 1.5 what shell do so why risk anymore.

just put this cause some of the new ones on here might think hmm lets wham that in and ends up in tears

would like to see what people actually run daily 24/7 and just for benchmarks and stuff.

I was the one using 1.6V..
At the moment, I use 1.55v for 4050MHZ. I could probably go lower..

But even with my fans on low, I still max out at 62C with the window closed and heating on.. (Prime 95 blend).

So, game load's fine.

if 62c is the cpu temp then thats way to high as these chips max temp is 62c so maybe after about a day or so at that it'll degrade or even damage it..

at 4ghz 1.55v, 2.6ghz 1.275v cpu-nb, my cpu temp is about 49-51c under load but when the hot weather comes i think it'll go a lot higher lol :rolleyes:

Exactly why overclocking is about compromising - its pointless hitting the topend of your CPU just for a meazly 100mhz when your CPU won't last long at them temps.

Loads of faffing and I found the following on my 965:
1.4v = easy do 3.6
1.45v = easy do 3.8
1.5v = 3.9ghz do-able only just
1.55v = struggling @ 4ghz

Compromise for me was 1.45v @ 3.8Ghz - Even with these settings I can keep ALL my system fans on low and the system only just touches on 46-48DegreesC (prime blend - otherwise 30Degrees C Idle)- This gives leway for the hotter weather (when it arrives - GOD DAMN YOU BRITISH WEATHER! :) )

For the newbies - Defo work out your top clocks - then bring them down a tad otherwise you CPU won't last long, to compromise with your cooling and weather changes. Other than for the occasional E-peen stats its always best to not strain your CPU to its limits as it will die eventually (lesson learnt the hard way with a £600 FX-53 chip which is now an over stated paper weight).
