AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

What's wrong with LLC?

1.4 VID seems high, but from my clocking experience of intels, it doesn't necessarily correlate to overclock potential. In fact, with a low VID chip, if you have to up the volts the temperature increases a lot more than a high VID. Is that true on these phenom IIs? What is the max safe voltage then?

So there's plenty of voltage headroom on an average chip, OK.

LLC improves Vdroop on my intel board, not sure if it works differently on the AMD boards? Instead of getting a few notches of volts below what I set in BIOS, it stays pretty much bang on, even on load. If you can disable it if you don't want it, I don't see the prob anyways.

considering the power regulation Asus employ, it seems odd they suffer droop, but I suppose if it works, it isnt that important. But once you know its there, its annoying !

Martini1991. some motherboards up the vid voltages instead of the normal voltages settings when upping the voltages in the bios.

for our motherboards if u load amd overdrive u should see vid controls which will give u even high voltage... e.g if u set the normal vcore to 1.4v in the bios then load amd overdrive u should see the cpu vid control still at 1.375, if you up that to lets said 1.4v you'll see the vcore go up to i think ~1.45v.

Well managed to get 3.9 stable (10 passes of IBT and a couple hours of prime).

But 4.0 is proving to be an elusive blighter! Can easily get into windows and run SuperPI / Wprime etc. no probs.

But IBT brings up some rather bizare results! Doesn't actually crash or lockup the system but instead get things like:

Test completed in 2.657 Seconds 6167.65GFlops. :D

Which while impressive sounding, isn't quite right :p

Woo Hoo !
Managed 2 hours of the max heat and power consumption cycle on prime, from past experience, thats a good sign it will be stable day to day.
Obviously more testing will ensue ;)

Yep, cpu-nb @ 1.2375, HT @ 1.22, NB @ 1.12 and mem @ 1.52 (though I don't think it needs it but I was bumping a few things a little amount while testing) ;)
