AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

After all the faffing around since doubling the memory, I am dead chuffed with this for the volts it's on :)

3.6ghz.8gb.9-9-9-24.jpg

NB voltage had to go kinda high to handle 4 sticks of ddr3 1600, but at least it's stable now. Been running since 7am (yikes, 16 hours) without a wobble, just forgot to start prime when I got up :P Temps feel high relative to most on this forum, but I've got everything crammed into an Akasa Zen case which proves not to be very good at ventilation.

Also, just found some arctic silver 5 in my drawer... reckon it's worth pulling the heatsink off and swapping the zalman heatpaste for it? ^^;

Well, technically ~>Dg<~ I've undervolted the CPU - it started at 1.375, it's overclocked at 1.3625 :D Alas my current case and cooler just aren't going to let me go higher, but as a silent workstation it's pretty good for the price. Sure beats my old rig anyway, so end of moans, start of enjoying it ^^

as soon as i start messing with the fsb (or whatever its called) system becomes totally unstable and just reboot cycles, any idea what im doing wrong? chip can do almost 3.8ghz with just the multi and 1.4v what sort of fsb should i be aiming for?

This is my 3.8ghz OC, So far its past 3 hrs prime not blend test but the one that says it produces the most heat, 15 passes of IBT and 1 hr of OCCT, what do you think?

I was a bit worried when i looked at hardware monitor and saw my 12v rail hit 12.99 but i do have three 12v rails i beileve on my psu so dont know what one that reading is coming from, also i have set my vcore to 1.43 in the bios seems to be showing around 1.40-1.42 this is what LLC at 19%, i really dont know if i trust hardware monitors readings sometimes cos i never saw my vcore go as low or as high as it seems to be stating

for a 2 stepping thats good

i can post at 4.1 and do internet stuff and other things with 1.5v but i dont want to go further than that until i see few more who havent killed there cpus :D

ill wait for a few months yet see how the peoples progress first :p then ill step it up :) im happy with mine as it is at moment not had one crash for months at 3.7 and 1.4v running 24/7

Just downloaded coretemp for the first time. I had not heard about all of this VID stuff. My VID is 1.3750. I am getting the impression that this is a good one?

Making me even more confused about why I cant get 19x200 stable. I am having another go. I have lowered the ht link to 1800 but everything else the same as it was.

Memory: 800
Cpu-nb: 2600

We shall see.

I have to say that on 1800 ht link stuff does seem to be a bit jerky. Windows maximising and minimising look less smooth than they should. Is this my imagination or could this be caused by setting the ht link too low?

OOps just had a reboot. Good old firefox remembered what I had written. Dont understand. Anyone got any ideas? The only thing I have never messed with is the ht link voltage. Could that help?

Might we worth a go but I have already tried it quite high. Once tried this:

multi: 19
ref clock: 200
vcore: 1.4875
cpu-nb multi: 10x
club-nb voltage: 1.35
ht link: 2000
llc: 16%
RAM voltage: 1.65 (stock)
RAM speed: cant remember 1 notch down from 800.

Failed. Any ideas what I am getting wrong?

That failed.

My settings:

Multi: 19
Ref Clock: 200
Vcore: 1.4000
CPU-NB multi: 12x
CPU-NB voltage: 1.3000
HT Link: 2000
LLC: 19%
RAM voltage: 1.65 (stock)
RAM speed: 800

Manual Timings 9-9-9-24 41 2T

That passed that 6hr+ prime I posted earlier.

Might be your CPU just has a really really weak Mem controller :(

Cheers for the help Hex. Your settings are what I always felt mine should be! They are about the same as for my old triple 550.

If I do have a weak mem controller what should I do? Take the RAM speed even lower? Try changing from 1T to 2T?

Ah yeah! Well then something is amiss, thought you were having the trouble because you were trying to 8GB stable, must have been mixing you up with eddiew :o

4GB you really shouldn't be having a problem... 1T/2T :|

Can you get your mem stable running stock clock?
