** AMD R290X BF4 EDITION - WE ARE NOW TAKING PRE-ORDERS / DEPOSITS!! **

They have the same 'official' looking banner as OCUK so I'm guessing they're the other pre-order e-tailer.

They don't appear to be asking for any deposit but that suggests to me they're not keeping any controls on how many pre orders they'll accept. They could end up with a lot of disappointed punters come launch day if they get hundreds of speculative pre orders.

Looking at it, it doesn't seem to be a genuine pre-order. Just 'give us your details and we'll contact you on launch day'.

I can only find ocuk mentioned as the pre-order supplier in the UK with google. I know the Bolton one has them listed, but they always put up pre-order for things they never actually get.

Just had a look over there and I think all they are doing where they say they will contact you on launch day, is to tell you that you will have to wait several weeks while they get stock in.

All it is, is an attempt to take orders away from ocuk who will have stock as soon as the 290X is available.

Seems so, yeah. And they're a bunch of crooks anyway.

Reference are the easiest to get water blocks for. When MSI release the Lightning versions (binned chips), they could be worth waiting for but that could be a few months away.

Plus also remember sometimes the first batch can be the better clockers, GTX 770 and GTX 780 being perfect examples. The first cards were hitting 1300-1400MHz cores on air, now the only way to get such clocks is via the flagship custom cards such as KFA HOF, EVGA CLASSY, MSI Lightning etc.

Also I've always thought the AMD reference coolers are absolutely superb, certainly better quality than some of the after market ones which come out and for overclockers the AMD cooler set to 100% fan speed turning it into a dust blower can give some of the best temperatures. :D

A Swedish shop had listed the specs earlier:

http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/hard...bundle_limited_edition__battlefield_4_premium

They removed it now. They were:

ROPs - 44
Base Clock - 800 MHz
Turbo Clock - 1000 MHz

I am not under NDA, and these are still listed on some news sites.

I know it's difficult but I wanted some clarity on the Audio part of the card.

Does this completely take the place of your sound card? If so I would need an HDMI receiver (My current Denon receiver is pre-HDMI!)

I'm not a 100% sure on this but I think all the Audio stuff is just the processing side of audio sources within a game the actual output and sound quality is dictated by your soundcard and its output. The card doesn't do anything magical with the output of sound only the processing techniques that games use to produce effects and such.

[beaten to it] You still need a sound card as all the trueaudio does is add sound realism (or however they descibe it).

Just the standard copy of BF4 is a bit cheap of AMD given the massive promotion ! Grand total of £30 saved minus the premium for the bf4 'bundle'.

Hope these are good and cheap so they have a knock on effect for the lower cards :D
