** AMD R290X BF4 EDITION - WE ARE NOW TAKING PRE-ORDERS / DEPOSITS!! **

If Amd were smart they would drip feed official info untill NDA lift, but there has been nothing since the initial reveal, and nothing to keep people interested in just the product.

Peoples early expectations of titan beating performance have since been lost in page after page of concern about pricing , and i think rightly so, had the 290x been released a week after the reveal Amd would have been onto a winner and i think people would have paid a premium for the card. Now the pricing is going to be key to the success of this card not by the performance on its own.

In a way Amd have already devalued a card even before its release.....

That's a bit hyperbolic!

I've placed a refundable deposit and until I know the price why would I cancel?

Some of us can wait a few weeks...It's just a graphics card at the end of the day. More excited about playing some of the backlog of Steam games I have on Ultra settings :)

I didn't at any point say that i've cancelled my pre-order, my point being that the longer this drags out the less enthusiasm i'm having for this launch and the more important the pricing is going to be , i think a lot of people are feeling the same.

Agree with the other recent posts to be honest.

Initially I was set to get one of these and assumed pricing would be low and the card would be uber, now I'm more concerned about the price than the performance, which is a bit of a weird thing to say I think!

If its cheap enough though I might buy 2, but I won't buy 1 if its stupidly priced.

AMD need to get this spot on.

Just buy a 7970 for way less and play those steam games on ultra settings, and in the process save a few quid.

^ This!
Or even buy two.

Being at the lower end of the affordables scale, as well as a complete noob, I'm kinda wondering what all the fuss is about... especially as I saw a recent thread here (possibly speculative) that basically had these new cards down simply as rebranded versions of existing cards, possibly with the most minor of tweaks but in essence the same darn thing.

Does 10 extra Mhz on a card with slightly less DDR5 really make much difference? It's kinda like comparing ultra-über-amazing-high-definition movies to those that are merely über-amazing-high-definition - I get to have an extra row of pixels per inch, on a screen that's several yards away anyway.

Already games are in higher definition than my eyes normally see anyway, so I only really upgrade so my rig can manage newer games on reasonable settings.
I'm all for shiny kit so I do get the enthusiams here and if it's gonna be something that works for you, then fantastic!

I'm just more likely to buy all y'alls secondhand 290Xes when you move on to the next ones, though!! :D

The 290 and 290X are brand new cards, everything below is a rebrand.

I'm no fool. :p

was it the invalid domain address at AMD that gave the game away ? :(

Must admit I'm getting worried about the price, I naively thought that this may have been a great opportunity for AMD to take a real portion of the market from Nvidia.

Obvious idiot is obvious.

My excuse is im both drunk and high.
