You use a lcd screen right?
they are inferior screens vs cathode screens CRT where screen clarity was superior, if you cant spot those differences you never would bought a lcd screen. worse quality and unbearable. much like people listening to 128kb mp3 and think flac quality sounds wrong. the industry moved into the worse directions and people accept that? now where is a brand new wp900 as for clarity of the screen I miss that a lot.

unless you can produce a video and point it out that is I assume its likely user error.

Why are you rambling off on a tangent? My monitors are in my signature but the point was that it was fine before and now it isn't. The only thing that has changed is my GPU.

The logic doesn't work. Me producing a video doesn't change the fact it could / couldn't be user error. All a video would show is the judder itself.

I think the chances of user error are close to zero with a new windows install and nothing on here except games and drivers.

I never had a CRT but my old man did and I agree they were way better for gaming. Unfortunately I have no desire to live in the Stone Age with a giant CRT on my desk :D

Ah fair enough that makes sense then. If you get a good sale on your 780 it can end up costing you net £0 which makes it OK but if you're switching for something in particular then you don't mind paying a little anyway. :)

Tri-X OC I have. It's a really nice card. I'd be more impressed with it if I didn't have a 780 prior but I have no real complaints about the card itself. Just minor gripes that my main game has started suffering. I'll fix it with a work around though somehow.

I'm hoping the switch ends up cost £0, as that would be ideal.
Although if I went for the Tri-X I'd probably still want a backplate.

I could get a 290 off the MM / or do a swap I suppose, but since a warranty sounds like its necessary & potentially less overall hassle than being the 2nd or 3rd owner I might just buy one new.

Hopefully OcUK will have one of them on TWO again on Wednesday :)

I swear I was much better at fps when I was using a CRT, along with an Mx518 mouse.

Then again that was 10 years ago, so old age might have something to do with my poorer aim now...:)

My peak skill level was probably the original COD haha. I had a really nasty 60 Hz TFT as well! I definitely did better when I went to see my dad though he did have a better PC as well so no wonder!

I've had a 120 Hz LCD for quite a few years now. Had one of the 1050 120 Hz monitors when they came out too.

I'd like an 120hz monitor but then I'd need more gpu grunt.
Which would mean beans n toast for a year, so I'll make do with around 60fps for now.

290 DD on offer today for £260, would make a good second card for those on the fence about CF..

Great price that. Spare a thought for this poor fellow though. He didn't listen when the LT said get a 290 and now he's paying the price, quite literally. :p

Looking at the price of that 290 I'm nearly in tears as I've just paid £360 for a 780 that I don't think performs too well at all

Oooh er. Matt you mentioned something the other day that intrigued me, something to do with resolution scaling? All I know is when I first installed my card I had to set it to 100% because the desktop was surrounded by a black border on my screen.

Resolution scaling. You can set it in BF4 in the video options. It's very demanding mind, as it renders the image at a higher resolution then downsamples it to your monitor. I recorded some gameplay at 1440P ultra and set resolution scaling to 150%. The hit on fps was high, but bear in mind i was running in windowed mode and i had the fps hit from recording and encoding at the same time. I had quite a bit of added mouse latency in this video too because i was using Windowed mode and the resolution scaling. The mouse responsiveness was terrible in game. Running full screen mode makes it much better, but then you can't record Mantle so... The video quality is only 1080P, so it's not great and i didn't really do it justice. I might do another one but get it recorded at 1440P quality using AVI.

Definitely not bad for that size of server, I hate it when people go in a big server alone and say im getting 60fps everything maxed out,

when you know when its full and the action is on they wont get near that :)

290 Tri-X OC ordered. Should arrive tomorrow.

Will give me a day or 2 to test it out to see how well the mismatched monitor support works.

If I get a single black screen though (not including during driver installation :p) it's going straight back.

I got mine last friday and so far so good, has been running well on 14.7. Upped the core to 1050 yesterday just to see if it required any more voltage and got through 4 maps of BF4 fine. Problem is I don't really need it to be any faster - Avg 80-90FPS in a 64 player server at 1080p full ultra :p

I know I can just find out by trying, but as I'd like to avoid any headaches where at all possible, would it be OK to flash powercolor pcs+ bios on to reference card?

You will have to be careful, as the pcs+ has overclocked memory. Don't wanna end up with black screens.
