AMD R9 290 (Non-X, Pro, etc) Owners Club

Hi guys,

Anyone got a recommended fan cooler replacement for the stock one? I'm looking for something that is quiet and does the job of cooler, I'm not looking to produce massive overclocks etc so it doesn't have to be crazy. Also cheaper the better!

I've started to mess around in UE4 and the fan noise can be so annoying sometimes -.-

If the 1825W is being measured at the wall then the PSU output is nowhere near that figure.

Assuming the Gold Plus efficiency is maintained at over 100% of the rated output then a little over 1600W, less if the efficiency reduces.

Yep it shut off shorlty after passing 1800W, no idea how much it was actually using. I've finished now, don't want to break anything so will stop while im ahead. One card is going back anyway, not actually keeping four but wanted to try out quad fire and get on a few of the 3d mark scoreboards. Managed to beat out both of Kaaps quad titans and one of his quad 290x scores. That'll do for me on reference air. :p

So you bought a card with no intention of keeping it, but to run benches and now you sending it back?

I get that people often have valid reasons for returning things, but that a bit of a **** take, no?

DSR? you naughty boy:D

No I'm keeping this one, but sending back the other one that has given me the odd black screen. Don't know if it's actually faulty or not, but not taking the risk as it's within the DSR period.

EDIT

To clarify, It's not going back via DSR, they're coming to collect it but I can't be 100% sure it's faulty, but i think it is. If they refused i would have DSR'd.

Your original post makes it sound like you're abusing DSR.
Anyway, DSR'ing something that might be faulty also isn't great either, if it's faulty it needs RMA'ing. Some poor bugger could end up with a flaky card and be SOL 3 months down the line.

What I'm doing is perfectly within my rights. I've had it set up to return for a while, It's why i ordered the new one to see if it happened with that. The company I'm returning it to is fully aware of what's going on so I don't see the big issue personally but i guess ymmv. Meanwhile yes i was absolutely going to try out Quad Fire before returning it for a refund.
