Lol @ the estimated price on the 390x on the above, that would be hilarious if true, especially if the 3 cards above are even remotely close to those specs and those prices

It depends, if they price them too low then people will snap them up but it gives the image that they aren't as good (which is silly in itself). Price them too high and their usual buyers will complain that they're starting to follow nvidia and it could push people to just wait around for the 980ti at a similar price.

Main group of customers buy cards cost at a 250 or so, the price point for high end and the buyers have no issue buying those at such prices as its in their range. Usual buyers buy mid range cards anyhow.
They buy the 290x or such as its the best deal atm.
superb card for the price and performance.

since amd comes out with a whole new line the summer become interesting.

It's more about profit margin. No point trying to recapture the market with tech firsts like HBM and selling it cheap. AMD are trying to balance the books and I don't think their shareholders will be happy if they don't try to maximise returns.

They won't be happy if the sales of their cards don't pick up either, 970's outselling the cheaper and just as good 290x.

I don't believe the way to win market share back is by making your cards any more expensive than they need to be unless you're in nvidia's position who can basically do what they want.

Oh no.. If you do that who would take over the reigns of forum user troll here?

I like the way your still mentioning me in nearly all of your posts, flattering really :)

You're clearly not paying attention then, sweetie.
Just checked my last posted, 17 posts prior to that one was the last i mentioned you or quoted you. Someone's little Boom just got that little big smaller ;)

(I not judging, mines tiny...like, non existent)

As for the forum troll, cut me some slack? I troll a lot, granted but i do sometimes post things on topic and even rarer of credit. Stop trying to point score with people who dislike me, you're better than that ;)

The mods aren't idiots...they're able to make up their own minds whether someone is an actual troll or trolls. The former being only here to troll, with no intention of helping, staying on topic etc. The latter is me, i will poke people with sticks but at the same time (sometimes even next post) post things that help others and are indeed ontopic!

I can't lie, and it's a shame you've only been suspended twice.

If they price the 390X at $549 AMD will be committing commercial suicide.

Why? That was the price of the 980 on release. Presuming the 390x comfortably beats the 980s performance, it's a good price.

This attitude of "amd must deliver +20% performance at -20% the cost with new technology" is delusional. The current cards perform similar and are cheaper than their competition and they are still losing market share.
If they are to make money they can't cut their profit line to nothing. If people don't buy a better performing card for the same price as their competition, you can't teach stupid.

If you want to argue that the 390x should be competing with the 980ti, the last gens ti was released at $700. Which would make the 390x's supposed price even better.
