I have to say that the appearance of this card on special is testing my resolve to hold out for the R-200 cards. On the one hand I think if I buy the Matrix now something better will be announced for similar money (£300 max budget) but if there isn't by the time the 25th has come & gone the Matrix will have either sold out or OCUK will have increased the price a bit
What do you guys reckon (pure speculation I know!) - is it realistic to expect a Matrix beating R-200 card for similar money?

Does the 2 weeks also apply to 'b' grade purchases. Good point though Matt as I am finding the waiting and wondering very stressful.
7850 is replaced by the R9 280 = 7950So by that naming convention, the 7850 will be replaced by the R9 280 and will have the same core as the 7970
Not so big on the naming though.

This isn't accurate (from what I understand).
You have 7 working days (not two weeks) and that time begins the day after you take delivery. Not the day of delivery.
You do not need to send the item(s) back within those 7 days, instead you must inform the company of your *intention* to return them.
Additionally, you do not have to return the item(s) yourself, though in fairness most people do
The law doesn't specifically say you have to return them, just make them available for collection.Lastly, the goods do not have to be in a re-sellable condition to return under DSR. However if the goods are damaged, the company has the right to charge you a fee.

That is true under normal DSR, however ocuk extend this to 14 days:

Then it must be stressed that you are NOT returning your goods under the DSR.
If outside the 7 working day period allowed in law, you are subject to OcUK's terms and conditions, and NOT PROTECTED by DSR law.
It is very important that people are aware of this.
I've returned several items after the 7 day period under DSR with Ocuk. Their 14 day guarantee makes them one of my main choices when purchasing computer hardware. That said i may shop elsewhere if they're competitive on price.
The DSR is not well understood. Here's some info if you want to read up on it.

If you inform the seller of your intention to cancel the contract within 7 days (starting the day after you receive your goods), you are under the protection of the DSR.
If you do not, you are entirely at the mercy of the T&C's of the shop/supplier.
OcUK do not "extend the DSR to 14 days". This is not possible.

Im with you 100%, performance is paramount *however* I think aesthetics does come into play at least from a mental pov, the 690/Titan coolers look pretty damn solid and mentally that will make some people have more faith in the solidness of the cards (don't laugh I'm serious here
) whereas by comparison the HD7990 cooler looks like a cheap plastic toy (I KNOW it isn't and that there's a beefy heat-sink under the tacky red fans, but that's not what attracts peoples attention when they see a pic of the card).I think the fact that you could put the HD7990 next to the HD7850 DirectCU and the unknowings would tell you the HD7850 looked like the more expensive card did contributed slightly to why it sold so poorly when it was priced against the GTX690.

Yea but for most cards, partner's cards would have good looking custom cooler anyway. However, for the Titan cooler the BS is that people have to PAY EXTRA for the sake of it. People should not have to pay like £30 extra for a "stock cooler" over partner's card that already have a capable decent looking cooler.
I love the shiny look of the 7990, always have. Understand im probably in the minority here though.

Shiny black metal/aluminium shroud would be better than cheap shiny plastic, especially when the card is expensive.
AMD needs to up their game in more than the performance stakes against Nvidia, better coolers/acoustics for one thing.
