Perhaps it's just because i've gotten older but i don't see why people get all that excited about new hardware now, sure back in the day we had good jumps in performance and new features but now not so much.

If you look at hardware as modules which give a certain amount of performance for a given price it all starts to look a lot less interesting, like that black box gives 30% more fps for only £500 over my old black box, wow that's amazing!
