AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

The SP120s don't need to spin up enough to get loud if you have two of them, but at least you know they always have plenty of capability just in case.

If you do not run the SP120s at 100% speed, is pointless to buy those over the Apache. Because to match the "silence" of the Apache at 100% you need to run the SP120 at around 40-50%.

But at that setting, are worst than the stock fan by miles. Which is quiet and adequate also.

Hello fellow AMD ppl, I noticed new interesting trend.... I boot my pc up and its all nice and quiet and like 2 min later without doing anything the fan on the card itself speeds up i open afterburner and I only see 0% on all fans...i got 15.7.1 drivers.... and ideas ?

Is it the card fan, not the radiator yes?

Wipe out the drivers from the system and re-install again.

Had the same issue with some drivers back in July but a driver wipe and installation again, sorted it.

Guys, given that it looks my good old trusty H100i is on it's way out, I am considering to create custom loop and put the 295X2 under water.

So the choices are the
Alphacool NexXxoS GPX ATI R9 295X2 M01 Waterblock
EK-FC R9-295X2
Aqua kryographics Vesuvius. (do I need to buy the separate backplate for this?).

Costs, knowing I cannot post them, I would only say that the difference between Alphacool and Aqua is £80!! and Alphacool and EK £60. (Alphacool is the cheapest of the lot).

Any feedback is welcome :)

Hey guys I'm just after some advice on a fan setup for my 295, I've bought 2 Noctua 3000rpm fans and a splitter which will let me plug both of them into the header the stock fan usually plugs into.
However when I do this the fans seem to speed up and slow down constantly and never stay at a set speed, I was thinking it may be because they are 3000rpm fans and not the same speed as the stock fan.
Could someone shed some light on this and maybe tell me a good way to setup these fans?

Thanks guys :D

I got the best results performance/noise with 2 Akasa Apaches working at 100% speed. Dead quiet and work well even with overclocks under full load.

What's the failure rate like on this card? I'm sadly having to return mine under warranty. It' started giving me graphical glitches and serious screen tearing... Not sure if they will be able to send it back for repair or not. I would be happier with a replacement, but Overclockers don't seem to stock them any more. Not sure what the outcome will be, but I'm pretty disappointed now because I can't find another R9 295 x2 for anywhere near what I paid for it. :-(

Probably you are the only person I know of, that had issues with this card.

Mine runs fine, even if considering to sell it for around 350 and get a FuryX.

I assume that you play the game at full (exclusive) screen mode yes?
Also do you use Crimson 16.1 drivers, because they have Witcher 3 hotfix.

Closing, Witcher 3 is pretty crap on Crossfire scalling. Have you tried run with CF off?

That would be assuming you're playing a game that supports crossfire, of which many don't ;)

Actually a big part of DX11 AAA games released last year, do support CF.

Something that cannot be said for SLI, which is supported by less than a handful of games released last year.
