OCUK oversold the 7900XTX, I received the email below offering the alternative products with "DISCOUNT", why is this even called a discount?

Thank you for ordering your RX 7900 series graphics card from us.

Unfortunately, we have oversold on the graphics card you purchased, and we're currently awaiting on information from suppliers regarding receiving further stock, once this information is available, we'll update you via email.

It's very unlikely that we're going to receive additional units in time for Christmas, therefore we have a few cards below that we're able to supplement your order with, at a reduced cost considering the circumstance.

These cards are in stock and ready to ship in time for the Christmas holidays, should you choose to amend your order please reply to this email with your order number and preferred model, we'll do our best to get back to you as soon as humanly possible, if you are happy to maintain your order, there is no need to reply to the email.

GX-3A2-SP - Sapphire 7900 XT MBA at £899

GX-00N-AK - Asrock 6900 XT Extreme Formula at £699

GX-06W-PL - Palit RTX 4080 at £1199

Looks to me like someone in our CS team has merged the email I wrote for them but somehow have parts of an old 3080 email within them as I put no mention of discounts.

It’s either a case of wait, switch for a card in stock and three were put on the email or request a refund.

It’s an error our end so all I can do is make the discount a reality:

So 7900 XT @ £879
6900 XT @ £649
4080 @ £1149

I’ll communicate this to CS team tomorrow as it’s only fair that an error has been made by offering a discount to now truly offer a discount for anyone willing to switch.

We will but I can see it been now were near enough to handle demand. Let’s hope AMD maybe have plenty of stock or delay launch until they do.

Fingers crossed! I have an eye on a 7950x3d. Just getting through the checkout on the launch of the 7900 was tough due to the load on the website.

Cancelled my order so good luck to those in the queue. Got myself a 4090 FE today, can't afford having 1k locked on the website with no clear eta. Thanks Gibbo for your hard work, Congratulations to those who have scored one and Happy Christmas everyone.
 
Oh no, just found this thread after wondering why card didn't arrive today and now I see I got the dreaded order update email about the oversale (went into my promotions tab in gmail for some reason)
Powercolor RX 7900 XTX MBA placed at 14.16 (site crashed on checkout due to the user load and then I didn't know to avoid paying with paypal to get in quicker- Order Number: 6482565)
Sounds like its pretty much not gonna make it, but i'd like to hang on this week in case some people decide to cancel from the 14.15 group. Will there be a way to find out when the exact numbers come in for the december delivery of the Powercolor RX 7900 XTX MBA?

@Gibbo are you expecting reference stock to continue to come in after these initial batches, or should we expect it to die off much like it did with the 6000 series launch and be replaced by AIB designs? I still would like a reference card due to its size just wondering what the likelihood of that is now.

Good morning,

I am one of those affected by the overselling of Sapphire 7900XTX (Order Number: 6482488 // Date ordered: 13/12/2022 14:08:41) and I was really disappointed when read the email. I put together by PC in November 2020 and, as you can guess, that didn't go very well... I wanted a RTX 3080 back then and had to finally buy a GTX 1650 just to finish the PC. I have been waiting patiently for 2 long f... years, trying to avoid this madness and when I finally thought it was over, another obstacle in the path :( I know, it's not the end of the world, but still very frustrating that shops do not have well designed procedures in place to avoid these kind of issues, I would have thought you may have learned a thing or two from these last 2 years...
OK, that bit is out of me now... I actually just wanted to post to appreciatte Gibbo's work, you do not seem to be the "typical" forum moderator without any actual knowledge neither decision power, and it's really important for me as customer to have honest information from the source, so thank you for that. This doesn't erase my complaints mentioned above, but I must recognise the value of each point accordingly.

Kind regards everyone and hopefully we can all still enjoy a nice Christmas, despite this new pothole in the path.

I replied to the E-Mail asking for queue position, if the CS team will be able to answer then I will wait for their response, but if it something they cannot answer, could you please let me know my position in the queue my order number 6482008 (Internet Reference: ST5188641).

I am not sure how the queue system is decided, I hope it is first come first serve as my order number seems relatively low, but maybe it is random.

I’ve just had same conversation with CS - card payment refund 3-5 working days, so bye bye Xmas, unless you can get an alternative from OC.
