It is already my replacement card, I RMAed for high hot spot temp, hitting the 110C range.

Sod the warranty… I carefully removed the silly warranty sticker with a piece of paper (undamaged) and I put it back on after I was satisfied with the results.

For the 6000 series they used a graphite thermal pad, which is very finicky when it comes to GPU die and cooler contact.

I had a similar story with my old 3080 FE, the replacement card still had high memory temps. I ended up replacing the thermal pads and to bring down the memory temps. So even Nvidia have some cards with temp issues.

These manufacturers need to find better ways for testing temps.
 
Card arrived 23rd (thank you for punctuality DPD) so a happy Christmas after all :cry:
Card running quite cool (Powercolour 7900XTX MBA) - Division with highest settings on every option and DX12 rendering at around 150 fps with max temp around 60c to 70c and junction around 10 to 20 above that. All system running very quiet. Very happy with performance. New Build

Got my eye on the 7900XT Speedster Merc 310 Black Edition, but not sure if it's going to be much of an upgrade over my 6800XT? It's only the XTX that delivers that blow but pricey.

I can feel the internal dilemma you face over this XT Vs XTX decision mate... My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

We both know, deep down you will make the right decision. Whatever that may be... ;)

Great news on the XTX front (and massivly appreciated we STILL get updates over the holiday period, what amazing customer service).
Shame we have nothing on XT variants until later, guessing that will be late Jan?
 
@Gibbo appreciate you're on leave so no rush to reply - any news on the custom 7900XT (specifically Powercolor red devil) ETA? Also, separate question - do orders with a pre-order wait until the whole order is in stock to ship?
