AMD RX 7900 XT/XTX Upgrade discussion

Is it though. The 6900xt was touted to be a £999 card. It wasnt for a long while. The 7900's are touted to be the $899/$999 but are a bit over this tax/doller rate as normal and we were looking at £1100 for the MBA which its actually hit.. The 4080 is double the 3080. Value wise its not awful compared to previous gen. You need to put some context.
It’s actually a good point. I completely forgot that the 4080 was over 100% more expensive Vs the 3080.

It's only good value if we accept the 6900 XT was also good value. Personally I think they are all poor value including the 4090.

The 6800XT was 15% performance off the 3090 for £600, the 7900XTX is 25% off the 4090 for £1050 or the 7900XT is 40% off for £900 so not a particularly great showing

It must be remembered that the 6900 XT was seen as daft because of the small performance increase over the much cheaper 6800 XT. Gen on gen for a flagship it's not so bad, but then it should really show 50% gains across the board in my opinion (which it comes close to, but the 6950 sort of spoils that).

Yup 6900xt was a good price for performance, made a lot more sense than the 3090 did (unless you were using it for professional/work reasons)

It is quite shocking to now see examples and man math % a year or so on. It used to be the 3080 is only 10% off the 3090 for £650, but refreshing that the 6800 is now getting a mention!

Might be down to AMD lowering whereas the ampere cards have if anything crept back up. Or is it.. the #finewine effect?

So if I understand this right the 7900XTX is 25% slower than a 4090 but its £600-£800 cheaper and the 7900xt is 40% slower but £900 cheaper ? isnt that good performance/£ wise ?

Don't forget:

- very misleading show with their benchmark figures and the smoke and mirrors (many give nvidia hell for theirs because of dlss 3 and fake frames etc. but was nowhere as bad as amds attempt :D)
- claiming to be power efficiency focused and king based on their figures/claims yet it's not as efficient as ada and that was the be all for next gpu purchase and well.....

:p

People who give of about nvidia dodgy tactics, pricing and/or the 4080 12gb being a fail and how it should be scrapped should also be using that same logic for amds gpus :)
