AMD Ryzen 3700x stock cpu core voltage very high

Ok fair enough. I used to have a similar problem with my 3700X and in the end I think it was a bios update that fixed it. that was on an asus x470 board but have since replaced it with a x570 strix and its been rocksolid. I assume you are on the latest bios ? alos for soem reason you must use the standard unzipper for bioses not something like 7zip, this has given me issues in the past.

I have use winrar to extract to USB flash memory updated bios latest stable version 2006

I should have gone to Intel 10700K with intel motherboard. But I was upsets as overclockers say no you can't have full refund back for both cpu and motherboard. Only can replaced faulty cpu as part of RMA policy.

Right what I did today so far is:

Manual bios to 3600Mhz flck 1800Mhz all on auto timing. DOCP disabled. Boot to windows few minutes on idle pc shutdown. WHEA error pop up 1 error
Manual bios to 2666Mhz flck 1333Mhz all on auto timing. DOCP disabled. Boot to windows 10 minutes on idle pc shutdown. WHEA error pop up 23 errors
Auto bios to all of it on auto default with auto timing. DOCP disabled. Boot to windows and no issues on idle no more shutdown for 2 hours 41 minutes with no error on WHEA

Overclockers support tech told me I never do any overclock on the pc system for totally stable pc.
 
BINGO!

PC are now stable with DOCP enabled with 3600Mhz ram clock speed with fclk 1800MHz. Reason: Power switch was wrong way :rolleyes: (other way round) at the bottom on the main board and power connector was not plugged in correctly ATX 24 pins.:o WHEA error ZERO so far and no pc shudown on idle! But, too early to call yet. 12 minutes so far.

Before: when I turn on power on top of the case the pc didn't come on after 5 seconds seem rather odd for month. After: Now I can turn on power on top of the case instant (no more 5 seconds wait)

Still zero no WHEA errors so far. I think it does fixed now. Mean nothing wrong with the processor. But still too early to say until next 24 hours to see if it stable. Already running cinebench R23 multi cores go up 12520 pts with docp memory speed 3600mhz fclk 1800mhz timing at 18-22-22-42-83-630-1T.

I did notice other one Ryzen master software monitoring sleep mode has disappeared. It's use to be on sleep mode
 
No issues so far :) my best mate told me off how could you got the wrong way on power switch! :eek::D Learn my lesson! Cos I haven't build pc for almost 13 years! I have to inbox overclockers to cancel RMA for cpu return
 
Left pc on overnight idle no WHEA error nor any pc shutdown anymore that's rather odd. But if it stable now then I more than happy. I can see other thread forums many peoples has issues with 3700x unstable on idle but disabled c states have fixed this. Look like the bios from Asus haven't release latest stable for idle clock on 3700x yet and other processor too.

No point of return the cpu because what if the new cpu are the same error as this? Would be waste my time and overclockers time. I got email from amd and they suggest me to disabled c states or gear down on memory will stable the processor on idle.

But why isn't amd, Asus should aware of this in the first place ages ago when 3700x was released. But amd told me if any more issues then the cpu have to return to get it replaced. Also telling me to check memory for QVL certified for 3600Mhz on xmp profile.
 
Mate if its working just stop looking to tweak stuff and enjoy it now, otherwise ull never find peace and be ever looking to tweak this or that for diff reasons. If its working and temps are ok just enjoy it imo.


Is disabled c states are safer to do? If yes. Then I leave it alone and enjoy pc 24/7.
 
With the fix u did yesterday do you even need disabled c states now?

Maybe you just need to find the right power plan for windows instead (Ryzen Balanced Power Plan)?

From what i read yea disabled c states are totally safe to do, just that its slightly higher idle clocks but it still should go idle and lower clocks and ramp up when at load as normal afaik.

My fix didn't resolved WHEA error before midnight (getting 8) but no sign of shutdown this time. Went to bios and disabled C-States. Since overnight no WHEA error or any shutdown issues. If I turn back on C-States to auto then WHEA error will come back again.

Seem appear that C-States are the best way to stay turn off disabled for 100% stable with no more whea error. All day no issues at all. I leave as it was now. No shutdown issues since last night when put the correct power switch on the board.
 
Updated: no issues so far, no idle shutdown or no WHEA error. Happy now it been resolved. :) Disabled c-states are the only reason to stable pc with DOCP memory 3600Mhz
 
Updated: Went to Bios and put all core ratios x42 (4.2GHz) set vcore at 1.8v memory speed 3600mhz flck 1800mhz dram voltage 1.35v with docp enabled and c states disabled with no issues so far, no shotdown, no whea error. Core VIDs minimum: 1.056v maximum: 1.100v (I will try later to put all core ratios x44 (4.4GHz) to see if it stable enough with low vcore.

Cinebench R20
Multi cores: 5056 pts
Single core: 488 pts

Cinebench R23
Multi cores: 13041 pts
Single core: 1256 pts

Realbench total system score: 147,295

Should be cpu + soc power
13.816w on idle and 76.466w on load on Core+SoC Power (SV12 TFN)
23.052w on idle and 86.096 on load on CPU Package Power (SMU) - (that's for my fixed all core ratios x 42 - 4.2GHz)
