AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Interesting, msi AB users take heed.

Weird, my first step would have been to turn off any extra overlays or background software and see if that fixed it. Then only turn on file logging and see what that data says.
Does anyone actually keep afterburner or any game monitoring tools up? At most I just keep the games or steams basic FPS counter up so I have an idea if there's any real headroom to increase graphics settings.

New memory arrived from the US yesterday and so far its looking promising.

Sounds like someone needs to reinstall windows to me
Did a clean reinstall the other day, no change. People on reddit are experiencing the same, seems to be related to dual monitor setups. It is strange that the other people have almost identical spec to me (9800X3D, 32gb Corsair RAM, 3080).

I have a TV, an ultrawide and a standard 1440p connected to that very spec. Such a coincidence (see sig), but I don’t have those issues

I did hear on a Buildzoid vid that FCLK can cause stutters and some ram timings, could be worth investigating if you have increased the FCLK or tightened timings too far

Further refinements to my eclk tuning, now at 5.7Ghz+. Improvements to all FPS metrics. This time a 6 minute drive through the Cyberpunk world, capturing FPS from start to finish. Testing with path tracing enabled is no longer a great CPU test for the 9800X3D, since even with a clocked 4090 you are GPU limited. Roll on the 5090.

P.S No Cyberpunk crowd/performance mods. ;)
P.S.S Recording cost is around 10 FPS.

Finally got my 9800X3D and X870E running, so far so good, but I have noticed boot up is a couple of seconds slower than on AM4 even with memory context enabled

An update to my desktop stutter/freezing issue: new RAM didn't solve it, resetting bios didn't solve it, another fresh Windows 11 didn't solve it. Not the end of the world as performance is still amazing, just annoying.

May or may not help.
Thanks for that, not quite the issue I have though.

I can get it to do it consistently. The whole PC will lock up entirely for 2 or 3 seconds when I open Steam after powering my system on. Then it works fine, closing then reopening Steam. Sometimes if I open the settings app it'll lock up for a second. Gaming performance is great, no micro stuttering.

Not the end of the world, but not the sort of thing you want from a powerful system. I might try a different boot NVME (I have a cheap Team G50).

Any overclocks?

Reset it all to stock and run it for a bit. (Ram, CPU, GPU etc)

It might just be teething issue which will get fixed in the future.

Super annoying but AMD had that tpm issue a while back that they had to fix eventually via bios and Microsoft
I reset BIOS to stock (so RAM and CPU running 100% stock), clean installed Windows 11 and it did it just opening settings with nothing installed. Weird one!

I figured it out!

It turns out it is a monitor thing. I tried booting with only my second monitor plugged in via DP. No freezing. Tried with only my main monitor plugged in via HDMI 2.1. Freezing. Tried with just my main plugged in via DP. No freezing. Tried with both plugged in via DP. No freezing. So basically HDMI is out, which is fine but I lose the benefits of HDMI 2.1 against DP 1.4a (basically have to accept 8-bit + dithering over 10bit or 12bit, or cut my refresh rate to 144hz).
