AMD To Launch RV770 On June 18th

What's impressive is it's beating the 280 but WITH AA. Something which has let ATi down for so long and it really is great to see that for the majority of benchmarks seen so far. AA issues are a thing of the past.

This puts ATi way back in the game and gives them a fighting chance for once.

£470 on a 280 or £260 on two 4850's

Hmm.

or 2 4870 if you want to dominate :p

Will it even be a bragging right to say you have a 280 if the Ati cards are as good as they look or will you just come across as being a bit slow and stupid.

The thing is, that means the 4850 crossfire setup was not only beating GTX 280 in lost planet, but also an overclocked 'F T W' edition, whilst also being on an inferior processor (phenom 9850 vs. Core 2 QX9770). Nice.

Dont forget at higher res it doesnt matter that much, it shows the cards have some brute force though.

Definately need someone with better math skills then me for that one perfect and even then it would be speculation based on 4870 being 30-40% faster then 4850. I also think the Ati approach of giving board partners freedom to implement their own mem configs and coolers was a very smart move.

Well I look forward to news as it unfolds the following week on ATI info, first time ever should be going ATI !

would be great if ati will come back at competitive gpu market and they should make " The way it's ATI meant to be played" just to annoy nvidia :D

Well i was thinking about it, it would probably be more like 52fps. that sounds more accurate.

sorry got mixed up there, thought you were on about lost planet benches at first lol

Well I think it's unfair to be looking at 4850 xfire at 1920 x 1200 and above resolutions.

When AMD made their claim I never expected it to be at the top end.

Maybe 1680 x 1050 max.

The 4850 is crippled by the memory bandwidth and only 512Mb so will drop off performance at high resolutions/AA.

In saying that, it just makes the results it's getting at 1920 x 1200 and above even more fantastic.

The fact that you can maybe beat a GTX280 or be close to it even at high res for £200 less dosh is going to make ATI lots of money.

I just want to see how a 4850 and 4850 xfire perform at 1680 x 1050 and more importantly a 4870.

I'll leave the two 4870's and 4870X2 to you guys with 24"+ screens.

A couple more matched as best I can.

The guy with the 4850's has added a FEAR Perseus Mandate benchmark oh and some grid results.

Here is how it's doing in FEAR
