I think the point is that modern AMD cards run extraordinarily better than Nvidia cards using Doom+Vulkan. It's not close to representative of the 'norm'.
That said, Raven's comments about a 'lemon' incoming are hilariously idiotic and shortsighted. Dude is insecure as hell and totally shook worrying about this new AMD lineup, you can tell.
Because nobody becomes a fanboy without a healthy does of insecurity.why would anyone be shook and worrying about the line up of any company? just wondering

Did you you not see the moderator comment regarding "fanboys" earlier in the thread?Because nobody becomes a fanboy without a healthy does of insecurity.
How much better does it need to be before you pull the trigger? If these are a better card then my current 1080, I'm sold! I'll have one or two plus a EK water block please.

As mentioned earlier if it's better than a 1080, what fills the (massive) gap to the 480?
Maybe three cards then to cover the range?Usually there are more than one card from an SKU.

I just saw the Vega Doom benchmark, this time AMD have taped up the back cos they don't want anyone seeing the IO. I'm disappointed they chose Doom, since it shows what this card does at it's best (AMD cards do great on that title) and nothing close to average. My 970 has similar performance on Doom at 1440p (obviously with certain settings like shadows not on Nightmare and such off), so I personally wasn't very impressed.
Considering the way AMD showed off Polaris before (they don't use max settings, no doubt they turned things down to get it above 60), the performance appears to be better on the benchmark than the final product. I don't hear RX480 being touted as a 1440p card and neither have I heard many folks using it for 1440p on Hitman. The final benchmarks show it falling a tad short of 60fps at 1440p on that game.
So considering that, I reckon the Vega they showed off is the best thing they have and it looks to be something in between a 1070 and 1080, keeping in mind the Doom performance and the way AMD like to show things off. I'll add my estimate price of being in between a 1070 and 1080 (think original Fury release) and there we go... a potentially disappointing entry (because it wouldn't shake things up and slots in around Nvidia). Of course this all comes down to that card being the best of what Vega has to offer and a prediction that AMD won't be aggressive with pricing a year later.
And what's the chance that Nvidia will release a 1080ti shortly before... it feels like Fury all over again.
Did you read the bit where it was running in a virtually airflow nil flow case and running on Fiji drivers with an additional debugging layer so no specific or optimised drivers?
So even ball gagged and on crutches it traded blows with the overclocked 1080.
