AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

I see it turning out as an alternative to the 1080gtx tbh with similar performance similar price but maybe in some AMD sponsored games it could pull away by quite a bit. Best case scenario.

I hope you are wrong on this and it does surpass the 1080 for the most part at least but no idea what is what with NVidia and Volta, so something competing with the 1080 at a much reduced price isn't a bad thing as such but it could have done with being a few months sooner really. I could still see it selling well though, purely from the price of the 1080.

Really looking forward to seeing Zen + Vega in action. Just hope AMD are going to price these competitively (as in lower than nvidia). Was hoping for Pascal Titan performance, but maybe I'll have to wait for Vega 11 (wasn't vega 10 supposed to be the bigger GPU) for that kind of a performance leap.

I am going to fall off my chair laughing if Vega + HBM2 can not thrash a Pascal Titan.

Or putting it another way if AMD are going to use very expensive memory, the card had better come up with the performance.

It's hot air until ACTUAL reviews materialise. I put no stock in these over inflated marketing events, it's all pompous nonsense. Can't ever think of one where the end result hasn't disappointed vs the initial manufacturer claims and hype. I do find it quite interesting though, just to see how brash and boastful they are about the 'next big thing', but the savvy among us surely know to take all this with a massive pinch of salt! I'd hope so anyway.

Why + HBM2? memory bandwidth is only a small part of a cards performance.

High Bandwidth Memory just means a render bottleneck (where and if it exists) is removed, often the same thing can be achieved with Delta Colour Compression and Tessellation Culling.

Doom Vega is heavily optimised for AMD don't forget. My unlocked Fury can run it at 50fps+ 4k and just behind a stock 1080 but it's miles behind a 1080 in almost everything else.

Lol it isn't Doom that is optimised for Gcn but Vulkan which is api .... Btw from the looks of it this one will sit between 1070 and 1080

Regardless of what I think about HBM2 the one thing everyone agrees on is it is expensive.

This makes it a bit silly to put it on a card that is slower than a Pascal Titan.

Having said that AMD may surprise a lot of people by producing a card that is faster than the Pascal Titan.

I don't think AMD has ever brought out a card to compete with the Titan have they? The Titan is a "daft" card. (not saying those who buy it are daft but I mean its "silly" in an affectionate way). It must only make up 0.0001% of graphics card sales. It's just a marketing ploy. A "concept car" if you will. Just Nvidias way of saying "we are the best at GPUs - L@@K."

The real high end is the 1080. and probably to some extent the 1080Ti.

thats where AMD needs to be positioning Vega. It would gain nothing from coming out with a titan competitor.
