AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

Hopefully the upcoming event is better than the previous show casings; where with even Polaris they barely revealed anything until it actually launched.

That's what I'm expecting, I tend to come away from watching these shows with no more knowledge than before it started, We'll probally get a game or two with no real context to determine anything from it just like the Doom one where they showed a game that heavily favours AMD when running Vulcan (if it was) not far ahead of a Fury X running it at 4k. That or they'll fill the event with bric-a-brac features.

Unless launch is very close indeed, it will be a talk about the technology and improvements against unknown metrics, but no mention of real-world performance or price. They are just not going to put that info out until the release happens.

Anew Era awaits that is brightening the horizon as Zenengineers worked on the Vega technology to adjust the conformity towards mobility and flexibility.
Releasing the power to make some noise as the drums in the deep starts your awaken

Honestly, I think you are high when you post on these forums.

Agree he talks such nonsense every time he posts. Just go Eh? and move on.

I do that with quite a few members :D

At least with flopper I am sure even he is not taking it seriously and does it on purpose. Some others they actually are taking what they are saying seriously. Funny stuff :p

AMD Radeon RX 560M to become the first Radeon RX 500 series card?

We don’t know if Lenovo made a mistake by posting this today, but this is certainly a new laptop with yet unreleased graphics card. And it doesn’t matter if we talk about RX 560M or GTX 1050 (Ti), because none of these graphics cards officially exist yet.

The description reveals that the new graphics card will feature up to 4GB of RAM. This might be an RX 460M rebrand or a new card that is based on Polaris 12.

According to multiple online reports, the Lenovo Y520 will be available starting from February 1st for 899 EUR/USD.

i like that but knowing Amd they screw it up some how :p.

Somewhere in past the timeline skewered into a tangent and created this alternate graphics forum. One where AMD owns ATI. Its the graphics forum alright, although I cant imagine hell being much worse.

I read somewhere that if you unlock the flux capacitor on the RX 480 it can actually go back in time and render the same scene twice! Free CF...

i like that but knowing Amd they screw it up some how :p.

Of course they screwed up... they stole the required plutonium from the Libyans, and it's only a matter of time before they come looking for revenge! Idiots!!

However they might come back with the Almanac, and pull graphic cards few generations earlier........ :D

I would like Amd to hit a home run so to speak but they do have a habit of dropping the ball a lot of the time and making silly mistakes and ruining the launch.

290/x (partners cards were a lot better but the damage was done)and fury x( pump trouble) but the 390/x were a lot better right from the start.

Noticed this as well, if true then Vega should have no issues performing at full utilization as well as being a lot more power efficient. Should also mean each unit won't need as much die space compared to GCN, so assuming the overall die size is around full Pascal size, it should be a very competitive chip. Maybe the hints of Vega actually going against Volta is true after all...

Hopefully Thursday's presentation should clear things up.

Actually Volta was due later this year (Q2-Q3 2017) as per initial NV roadmap announcement in 2015, and just two months ago Nvidia announced that they are pushing it back to H1 2018.

Also note Vega chip was announced late 2015 as follow up to Polaris, and it was destined to fight Volta this year, with all it's bells and whistles (of Volta), not the Maxwel re-spin, the Pascal is.

Which ofc will make next year interesting, where the year delayed Volta will have to deal with Navi or the Vega 20 (if rumours are correct with Navi delayed for 2019 and bigger Vega in 2018).

Imho if AMD manages to pull a 1080 perf with this year Vega, I will be happy. If manages something better, so be it.

While I still think the "volta/voltage" part of that video refers to their own Power usage issues, I do hope Vega is not just another GCN iteration.

How can you even begin to think this? :p

It is quite clearly a reference to Volta. It is even on a green background with a Radeon sticker saying "# bettered" . It also has a logo underneath in the shape of the NVidia logo/closed eye with "Somnum Industries" and Somnum is latin for sleep (ie saying Nvidia are asleep)

I also hardly think they would mock their own current line of gpu's like that.

Hopefully it isn't all hot air and they do actually release a card that rivals Volta.
