I am so confused with this thread :(.

So for the person who doesn't understand what half of you are talking about in regards to memory bandwidth, nm and so on do I wait and see or buy a 1080?

My 7970 is on its last legs :(.

Another Marketing Disaster

Right, so because people had it in their minds a stream MUST be coming because...they came to that conclusion themselves. Such a disaster.

This is the same as the "amd said" brigade that seem to appear in threads talking about rumours like they were fact.

I don't think we will be seeing a 1080Ti or a Vega consumer GPU for quite a few months.

I heard the naming scheme is whatever comes first like with Polaris the big chip came first so was 10 and the smaller 11. If small Vega is coming first it will be 10 and the big version 11. I can't remember where i read it.

There was a discussion on reddit which I looked up where Koduri himself explained exactly this. The number is simply the order in which they start work on each project.

According to that thread, Vega is the opposite of Polaris: 10 is the small chip and 11 is the big one.

So it will come with a Quad AIO in the box :p

Assuming they are using an upto speed production version of 14LPP then it should be fairly decent power/heat wise. Don't like the quotes about early sampling though - makes it sound like they aren't sure the volume run is going to be upto scratch.

We want hardware from AMD, not vapourware !!!!

Well clock timer, Video taking stabs at nvidia it did suggest more than a media embargo lift. Even if people assumed more. I don't understand why so many people are upset though but then i'm not a fanboy.

And what is it they say about assumption being the mother of all **** ups? :)

And all the stream would have been would be the same slides and videos we've all now seen but with an hour or so's worth of waffle and awkward clapping wrapped around it. At least this way we avoided that and got the info in one hit with some website write ups to go with.

Ok, not the information people wanted but it was never going to be imo. Get Zen out the way then build hype for Vega but I guess they wanted Vega to at least be on peoples minds at the same time to build hype for AMD.

Most of us don't understand that much about memory technology.:D:)

I prefer to see actual benchmarks rather than listen to theoretical claims.

This!

Whilst AMD never said they were headlining or even streaming at CES, the website makes it look like they were. All the tech sites were saying "Ryzen and Vega would be there (still could be of course), so yer, a little lax on the info front.

You can see why people were assuming this and that!

Considering the actual chip has been show in in public and demoed working i'd consider that hardware, if they were talking about something without showing it then that would be vaporware.

If it is not on the shop shelf to sell it is irrelevant.

We want hardware not vapourware !!!

Basically, do you want a slightly better (10-15%) & less expensive (no more than $100-150 I'd say) 1080 but wait 6-8 months for it? Or do you want to have the 1080 now? I'd buy the 1080 now if I were you, and I'm a huge AMD fanboy.

I live in the City of Southampton and often think about something else that had great specs on paper.
