AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

There is as Nvidia pretty much came in with years old architecture and AMD are bringing in a brand new architecture around a year later. I think Vega will be faster than Pascal or at least i think it should be. A Fury X clocked at around 1500mhz would be a match for the gtx1080 so surely a Vega chip should do better.

We shall never know, stock Fury x's with its AIO rarely went past 1150mhz stable with a EK block you where looking at 1250mhz, heck the couple ive seen under LN2 only hit 1400-1450mhz, the HBM can hit 1ghz under LN2 though!

If vega beats the 1080 and sits close to 1080Ti speed wise AMD would have done well, but it would be AMD suicide to offer that vega card Sub £550

After all the R&D to get Vega AMD cant afford to give it away, would not surprise me to see vega if it makes 1080 plus speeds to sit at the £600 mark.

anything less and AMD are stupid, if anything Nvidia can force AMD's hand by releasing the 1080ti and reducing the price of the 1080 to force AMD to reduce the price of vega.

Vega is an unknown quantity so far, its performance is all based on a few demo's with if's and buts about new architecture. Until we see a full set of benchmarks on vendor produced hardware it remains hear say and wishfull thinking.

I do hope AMD pull one out of the bag with vega, would be nice to see NVidia against the wall, but I just cant see it.

Considering nvidia have pushed the TXP up to £1179. Certainly needs something to bring it down.

Not trying to defend nvidia in any of my posts, but I do stick to facts. Wanting VEGA to bring TXP perf for £600 just like everyone else :D.

Don't look to AMD to keep nVidia in check, for that to be a possibility AMD would have to have some sort of effect on NVidia, which they don't in those sort of price brackets.

Vega looks about the same size as Pascal TX but the chances are its not going to run at 2.1Ghz, probably more like 1.6Ghz, or maybe like Polaris a pitiful by comparison 1.3Ghz.

AMD have had very little income for a few years, so very little R&D, so smaller GPU's with huge clock rates just isn't going to happen with this generation.

As the run of 4k doom is all we have to go on, does anyone know how a Fury x runs so we would have an idea how much faster vega is

Furyx got around 52 fps on max settings at 4k running vulkun.
So that makes vega 35% faster if it was getting 70fps.
Or is my maths wrong,lol.

That was from hardware unboxed on youtube.

Surely it would fly of the shelfs if it beats the 1080,and is priced at £350 to £400.
If its £550 plus,i think it would flop.

feels like wishful thinking, RX480 goes up to £270 and it's far away from a 1070, so we expect a 1080 beater to come in at 350-400? New tech, new memory, I'd be surprised if big Vega comes in below 550. Still, doesn't necessarily mean it will flop. At least it will provide an alternative to 1080, if nothing else.

I don't think AMD would be stupid enough to offer a brand new GPU that beats a 1080 as is claimed for £120 more than its current top of the line GPU.

They need to invest more so will want to reap some revenue from vega to develop the architecture further if its a 1080 winner.

if AMD are clever they will try to be around £500 but I feel that's wishfull thinking. top of the line vega cards will be £550 to 600 plus from vendors who offer good cooling options and some overclocking.

Yeah, goes up to... but starts at £195.

Having said that I think £350 for the full fat big Vega is too low, more like £450, the cut down one maybe £320 up.

I don't get these people, why do they all run comparisons with overclocks only and then call it a comparison? they are all the same, every single one of these is running thier 1080 at 2.1Ghz+. It clearly isn't a comparison in the same way if i add nitro to my car it does not compare to another car like it,

Take 25% off their results and then compare, or just don't overclock.

He looked to be getting pretty much the same frame rates as the Vega bench, with his 25% overclock, maybe thats why they are all overclocked.

I think some are trying to justify there purchases and others don't like the idea of there super expensive super fast card getting beaten. They probably consider the 1080 to be the fastest gaming gpu as the Titan is a Titan with Titanic pricing.

I don't expect >1080. but for much cheaper.

I just want a decent upgrade option from my 290 for a reasonable price, don't care who it is from. Hope that's not too much to expect from AMD, but fully expecting it will be and a decent upgrade from a 290 will remain at £350+ :(

It better be a damned sight faster than a 1080 then at that price!

It might be faster but not by much, with the 1080ti price looking like £850 maybe more, any card sitting between the 1080 and 1080ti will be £550 to £650. If vega overclocks to 1080ti speeds you still have a bargin at £200 less than a 1080ti

Full fat Vega cards with good cooling options from vendors are not going to be Sub £600 unless its competing with the year old 1080.
