AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

Im sorry, but the HBM2 wait doesn't wash with me, not when they could have used GDDR5, and GDDR5X like Nvidia.

AMDs just wanting to get their Vega' bought, on the back of the newer memory, the HBM2, they aren't still on the ancient GDDR5 like Nvidia.

Well I see it differently :D I like the fact AMD is pushing for new memory tech..
And because off the difference between the two PCBs the design around Fury or Vega adding in GDDR5 would have made processing even slower you would have thought.
It's easier for Nvidia too just use GDDR5 but it's hardly pushing for new standards is it..

Im all for newer tech, but if RTGs Vega card, with its newer tech HBM2 memory, is getting smashed off Nvidias cards, with their ancient GDDR5 memory, then its Nvidias ancient GDDR5 memory card im buying.

See in terms of numbers what does smashed come under?
Because if anything I firmly believe the high end Vega will be close to 1080 or abit faster then it depends on price. It won't be Ti speeds and it doesn't after be it's not going to be that priced either.

Loadsa doom n gloom in here tonight:p
Yea, it's like doom hacked into his account or something. lol

I really think the 2x Fury purchases really got to Loadsa in the end :p

Can't wait to see what Vega brings myself. I find it strange people wishing it sucks etc. To me a balanced person would want it to kick ass to either get a better graphics card or better price for performance, or even why not both?

Yes, but they've already brought out much faster cards than it, before its true replacement (the 1080 Ti), for those owners to upgrade to, the 1080, and the TXP, so they've really only waited about a year for an upgrade, AMD have brought out absolutely nothing for their nigh on 2yr old Fury owners to upgrade too, or their nigh on 4yr old 2/390s!.
980ti to a 1080 isnt much of a upgrade not when both are put up against each other 1500 980ti vs 2ghz 1080. We are talking what majority of cards do here. Its 20% faster at best. Titan xp would be a proper upgrade but at 1200 quid just no. So imo not really been anything to upgrade to unless you had less than a 980ti. Its why im looking at a 1080ti moving on from a 980ti at 1550mhz. Also your math is bad. 3 years 980ti but 1080 is 1 year old yet only waited a year to upgrade? Say whaaaaa?

You heard it here first RX Vega 10fps slower than 1080
Doom and LoadsaMoney calling it smashed out the park XD :D
But with what info? If anything all the info we heard so far would suggest the top Vega will be able to provide more than 1080 performance. If after all that time and architectural change they cannot bring 1080 performance, then RTG really is doomed. lol

Correct and this why I keep saying for me an upgrade is an upgrade when the numbers you see actually make a difference in games.

FreeSync owners, what if Vega doesn't deliver, are you going to wait another few years for their next card, to see if that one does ?, and if it doesn't, wait again ?
The only way it will fail for me is if the price/performance ratio is worse than whatever NVIDIA offer. If that is the case I will buy NVIDIA and forego Freesync. I'm not worried about having the absolute top card but I'm not going to pay more for the same or less performance than I can get elsewhere.

No information mate just me joking. Am expecting 1080 performance tbh and priced competivly.

Exactly. If RTG bring 1080 performance for $400, then it will have done well in my book.

I meant doom and loadsdoomed, with what info are they coming up with that leads them to the conclusion Vega will be as bad they think? :p

We only know its a smidge faster than the 1080, in DOOM, when its running under Vulkan.

Doesn't matter about the cost of the TXP, its still an upgrade.
So was a titan black but how many people upgraded to that? So is xfire but how many people jump on that. Ofc it matters. Price is a big factor when deciding on a upgrade. A overclock is a upgrade so your suggestion is subjective so please don't go that way and move goal posts.

We know they have A card that is smidgen faster on doom. We do not know if that is their best card do we? Also they will likely have had 5 months to work on drivers before release since we seen that footage dude.

It is quite unheard of, that Amd drivers will improve over the coming months like that never happened before.:p
