The 1080s are going back up in price in the next few days though, going back to £500+.

No wonder, cos people can't even get their 1080tis yet (not in stock), so Nvidia will take advantage. Like they always do.

let alone the 4lk/144hz screens "people" have been calling out for

Ah, but you can look at a monitor in a different way. Grabbing a high-res/refresh monitor can be considered future-proofing. And it also provides the choice between resolution and framerate/performance. Even with something like a 1080 (or Vega as many claim it will be 1080 level), you can either use the monitor for 4k (at up to 60 fps or whatever performance you can get at 4k) or high fps at lower resolutions (e.g. 1440p90/1080p144).

1080Ti is now in ample stock at OcUK, Zotac 1080Ti FE 500+ in stock, and we have OcUK and Zotac blower custom 1080Ti in stock too. Tomorrow Asus 1080Ti FE arrives and Asus 1080Ti Strix OC. :)

Yes I can confirm 1080 goes up in May, many already have.

EVGA are running cashback in April for 1080 and 1070 purchases and our EVGA 1080/1070 prices right now are around cheapest in UK. :)

Looks like i got mine just at the right time, why are they going back up?

Bet they're flying out :D

Its the customs we want though ;)

See I never understood things like that. Unless I am playing professionally or something I would never consider doing that. Sure it is fun to have a bit of advantage and kill more, but to do that? This is probably why I don't play fps games online much, some people take things too seriously and take things to another level. But I suppose you did say seriously. Don't think many people on this forum play games seriously in that way anyway.

Same here, I don't bother with multiplayer, I read that World of Tanks was spoiled by people using the lowest settings because it removed loads of foilage that you could hide behind, It's a shame people spoil games like that, I'd want to run it with all the bells and whistles but you can't. :(

So they can go down again when Vega comes out maybe? :p

Sounds about right.

Sorry Gibbo, I meant a lot of the custom cooled 1080tis. Or rather the fact that the stock isn't too high. I don't suppose you'll have too many Asus 1080tis arriving tomorrow?

Looking around, it's not quite at the point where one can choose any 1080ti version they want and order it to get within the regular few days.

Let's be real. The 1080Ti is a great card, cost withstanding.

It is a great card, but I don't feel that the price is appropriate myself. Even though I can afford it and could buy one right now if I wanted to. I might have been more inclined if they were more like £500-600.

So all some of us can do is just wait and see. Wait for Vega and see what it does. If it's 1080 level performance at a very 'original' price, then even I might bite, despite it not being as powerful as the 1080ti, which is currently the Nvidia GPU I covet the most.

lol, same. I can 'afford' to buy a 1080ti right out of my bank account. I certainly can't justify the outlay though, I just don't game enough, and it isn't my only hobby (I play a lot of paintball as well for example).

Yeah credit where credit is due the 1080Ti is a great card, Nvidia engineering is rarely in question its the pricing that's the problem they are quite clearly manipulating the market into higher prices. That will imho bite them in the backside sooner or later....

OR, they're just making room for Vega to slot in price-wise... Callling it now: 1070 < small Vega < 1080 < big Vega < 1080ti performance...

NVidia making $$$ for every couple of 1080s sold, in order to 'subsidise' the relatively low-priced 1080ti that is killing big Vega sales. Meanwhile AMD is selling at cost because of using expensive HBM...

1080 Ti is obviously a nice card, but it should cost £500-600, and even then, I wouldn't waste my money on a single component that costs that much.

£200-300 is as much as I'm willing to pay (on top of a trade-in of my old card), and I relish in the fact that I ignore all the noise and the growing contingent that seem willing to pay whatever Nvidia ask for their products. More fool them. It's like peer pressure when you was at school - except the ones goading you on to pay up or be left outside the gaming elite club are often younger and more irresponsible than you are :)

No no, I've got a mortgage to pay and a wedding to fund this summer. I only game once or twice a week sometimes, so hardly at all.

Did I see that, maybe I did but then again it could not be, the results on that screen where the cover came of was 18% faster than the Titian X Pascal. Two of those for slightly less than one of the new Titian XP that MRRP said on the tag.. The guy in all black quickly covered that up...

I agree, but there will be a few people along shortly to tell you that you are poor, need to work harder and can't tell others what to do.

Yep. I'll go as high as £400 for the right GPU but no higher. It needs to make sense price/performance.

If AMD can give me a 1080 card for £400 and under I'm buying.

£375 would be nice! :D

---

Prior to Ryzen I was looking at the 1070.... it was slowly creeping down to where I was willing to pay, but since Ryzen and the mini storm that brewed regarding Nvidia DX12 performance I think I'm going to go AMD. Plus FreeSync monitor will be cheaper than Gsync.

---

I'm going to make a decision which way I go once Vega launches. Pre Ryzen I was 100% green. But now.... I'm not so sure. Leaning towards the red team now.

I went and purchased a Ryzen 1700 so leaning towards AMD at the moment.

Judgmental much?

People are free to pay as much as they feel they want to pay. As soon as you accept this then the happier you'll be I'm sure :)

Everyone is free to make their own choices of course. For me, owning the roof that is over my head is more important than spending £600-800 every other year for a graphics card. Truth is, if I had large disposable income each month, I'd get a pair of Vega cards for two rigs of mine. But I haven't had my break yet in terms of my profession, so that will have to wait. Maybe £45 JSA saved up each week for 10 weeks will do it :D

Fair enough, it just came across a little worse than you probably meant it to :D

nVidia do definitely need to be kept in check though, and for that to happen we need a strong AMD!

I was running a Fury with my LG but desperate for an upgrade so went with the Ti and I'm happy with it, but ideally I'd like a Freesync card! ie. A powerful Vega one!!

I have been noticing more and more monitors are just using the label adaptive-sync instead of freesync. Could it be Nvidia will support it soon? That's right folks, you heard it here first ;):p
