Hum what?
did you mean the 1080 the added tax card vs Furyx maybe?
checked some deus:x numbers and I guess your statement means absolutely nothing then. Just saying people believe things that isn't true.

So Deus EX is the only game ,which has to noticeable difference between fury X and Fury Pro?

AMD missed an opportunity with the Fury X.

They should have allowed AIB partners to use air coolers from day one to keep the price down and give better choice.

AMD missed a lot of opportunities with the Fury line up - they seriously need someone with better strategic vision.

One of the very worst things they did was to say it was an overclockers dream.

If they had said nothing and people had overclocked the cards and got 10% they would have been satisfied.

Pascal only overclocks by about 10% and people are satisfied with that.

I don't think they actually said that did they? isn't that another one of those things that someone said and has become "AMD said it" ?

It was Joe Macri who said it during a chat on stage. AMD never pushed this at all. It should never have been said but people like to try and make out that AMD were pushing Fury X as an overclockers dream which they never. It was never apart of there slides or general info on the card.

Well they had the opportunity to put the record right when Joe Macri said it but they passed on it.

Yea because that would have made great business sense. The sensible thing to do was hope it went away :D:D:D. On these kind of forums that was never going to happen.

It was

Their presentation
Their product launch
Under their control
Therefore their responsibility

If they were not prepared to put the record right they are agreeing with what is being said at their own presentation.

Allowing someone to tell lies on your behalf is terrible business sense !!!

He was called on stage at an AMD event to talk about the Fury card he had worked on and that is when he said it was an overclockers dream so yes that is him speaking on behalf of AMD at one of there own big events..

Fiji was a shambles really... People buy low or mid range cards because they suit their budget and needs, most of these don't OC their cards.

People buying high end cards know exactly what they want and expect to OC if even a little, Fiji was a total failure on this front.

This is something that worries me with Vega, I worry that the HBM could potentially hold back the OC potential, or it could be the design that does..

After Fiji I lost a lot of respect for AMD cards, Polaris has hardly put much more faith back either.

For me personally Vega needs to be great, not just good but great, as if it's not then I'm selling up my Freesync and moving to Nvidia and will never go back lol

I don't think they intended it, it was Macri getting carried away with himself, next time maybe keep him in the box but for now how long is it necessary to punish AMD for it by perpetuating the myth that it was policy?

Its the only time those words were ever used, unless you can find it in their marketing?

No because it could be an overclockers dream because of the low temperatures it holds when overclocked. Coming out with a negative like it's not an overclockers dream or it does not overclock would have killed sales and they certainly did not need that.

Joe Macri should never have said it or at least put in some context. I believe at the time he thought it was an overclockers dream due to the cooler. He never once said that this card will overclock really far on the core. So he never really went far enough to explain why he thought it was a dream to overclock. Keeping quiet while morally wrong was the best thing to do here. This forum and others like it is a big reason why. The news would have traveled far and wide that it couldn't overclock had AMD said this just like the Overclockers dream is still floating around.

Who hangs on a single word said once with any number of context to such an extent they chose their own context and still rant about it a year later.

Who is this volatile? think about it its extraordinary, to be polite about it.

Watch the video - sure he is talking a lot in the context of the 6 phase power and AIO but his comments are ultimately about the whole package - I don't doubt that at the moment he said those words he believed there was significant overclocking potential.

"You are going to be able to overclock the thing like no tomorrow... ...this is an overclocker's dream".

One of them also compares it to a Ferrari :S

I don't remember the like no tomorrow part which is where it becomes hard to defend. Ahh well i would keep him away from the stage in future. Looked like Raja knew he was talking crap as he soon said stop stop stop :D:D:D.

IIRC you can see a few people wincing at times following comments in the full res version but I couldn't find that off hand. The whole thing really was quite cringe worthy.
