cant help but feel with all this talk of Vega being expensive, it could possibly be.
Jump in straight at the high end Price bracket and would force buyers who want a middle ground 1070-80 performance having to scoop up two 580's .
always bangs on about 2x480 being the same as 1080... might as stick with it

sure this would make vendors happy :D

I can see the 5xx Polaris cards handling the £250 and below bracket, so I reckon there will be a Vega card released at £350 and a faster one at £500.

I'm basing this on absolutely no knowledge or source, just stuff I've made up - so pretty much par for the course for this thread :D

Careful you'll be being quoted on WCCF as a reliable source next.

Actually Fury X launch price was $649 but AMD didn't get $100-$150 profit out of it. Accorded to both Gibbo and also Lisa Su back to AMD Financial Analyst Day 2015 said both CPU and GPU's profit margin is in mid single digit that around 5% or 6%.

You sure that wasn't gibbo saying roughly how much they make off the fury X? because people was complaining about the price. Ive looked to see if i could find where gibbo said AMD make 5-6% profit off the fury x but i can't.

Amazed, nearly sold out.

Fact is AMD need to make money, so if these cost them £100 to make and they can flog them for £600, then they need to do it and keep doing it. End of the day it offers good performance, OK the value for money is not great but there is no card this tiny this powerful, so they do have a USP and to be frank can charge what they like if supply is slow.

Fury X absolutely flies out, whenever stock lands, it tends to sell within a days.

None of us are happy with the prices or lack of stock, but if AMD can shift all their product at these prices then good on them, I for one want them to be still here in years to come because they keep NVIDIA on their toes. :)

That's what ive found gibbo saying on the prices of the fury x.

I cannot find it but there was a tweet from a tech site saying Vega will be priced against NV cards as Ryzen against Intel CPUs

Yes in all sectors about profit margins growth.
That graph is to do with the year on year growth... Like said before they are at 18% year on year growth for 2017. When did you grab that graph from because it could look different now. For example that graph shows the GPU section is in single digit growth in revenue. This does not mean that they make single digit profits off their gpu's...

TBF Lisa said the main drivers for their profit margin growth (18% from previous year) was the GPU and CPU side of things. RTG only have targeted the mid range section so id say they made decent profits from their cards because if its single digit like u suggest they must have sold a CRAP TON load of them... lol.

Same for the CPU side aswell.
