Hold up here. Is Doom trying to disparage an entire race, saying their work and design is inferior?
I hope not, I think he was trying to infer that MD is spending less money in using Chinese offices but that is not the actual issue. As I aid above, its mostly down to insufficient skilled workers in the US and an immigration policy that results in foreign offices being set up.

Yes thank you for explain it in better English. My english is bad.

That isn't the only thing that is bad!! Lool You kida saying people who work at Nvidia is different Race to AMD
Must be Alien too work for Nvidia!!

On a more serious reply dont employees from AMD and Nvidia always switch between these jobs? Am sure AMD has had people from Nvidia join them and vice versa...

They will switch if there are good offers or other tech companies

He stated they "laid off" many of their "western" engineers to replace them with Chinese ones. Hmm, anyone got a link that verifies that statement.
Last I read AMD has been recruiting as much as possible all over, even going so far as to get Raja back from Apple to lead their GPU R&D.

The last piece of news I can find of AMD "losing" R&D staff was then Jim Keller left in 2015 after having worked on Zen.
The oldest article being from 2011-2014, where they were shedding 10% of their staff.

Since then Management has changed and they've been recruiting and head hunting people again.

AMD, which was founded in 1969, employed more than 10,100 workers last year, including 1,900 in Austin, until an undisclosed number of layoffs in late 2015. An AMD spokesman has said slightly fewer than 500 employees globally would lose their jobs in a move projected to save the company about $2 million and $7 million in the third and fourth quarters of the fiscal year, respectively

It just takes 2 mins to search.

I would never ever put money into Xfire/sli. I know many do. But I just couldn't face putting that huge outlay down to only have it completely useless in loads of my favourite games. That would just be crushing. A bit like if you bought a new car and they said "its a nice car but might only work for 50% of your journeys". Madness in my eye unless of course money is no object.
I always thought it made sense for situations with multiple PC. Like a cybercafe could combine 4 cards from 4 average spec machines into one machine for special occasions.
Raja mentioned in 2016 that AMD's end goal was having Multi GPU, as common and ubiquitous as as Multi-Core CPUs.

Navi is apparently the step into scalability for it; but hopefully we won't have too wait too long. The main issue is still having to rely on PLX chips, and not being able to share VRAM and resources like a CPU would.

Their goal is to use their Infinity Fabric which is in Zen, to also be used in APUs, and GPUs; but who knows when that'll even happen.

Not sure it compares as multiple cards takes up a lot of space vs multiple core cpu which are loved by servers as they are space efficent even power efficient I think. If AMD literally were going power/performance over every other factor they might have Vega really low price but want people to buy more then one. I really think they wont put out Vega lower then 1080 or their own 580x2.
If AMD has a vision towards multiple GPU, its within their own reference designs I guess and on one card and with 7nm thats feasible ? Its a navi thing not Vega imo and to discuss it years ahead of actual release is normal, majority of cost is R&D

Agreed! So what he saying then Nvidia will never hire anyone from AMD well that is false information from him.

@Doom112
Say a guy or girl passes all the qualification to work for either AMD or Nvidia.. They have a choice what makes Nvidia different? Is they a Nvidia school they need to pass? Alien school? Somthing else? Am very interested what makes you think some people can and can't work for Nvidia!! I can picture you now the head boss at Nvidia with a mustache doing Hitler shouts Lool
That one is western - No
That One is Asian - yes

Funny

I think eventually what they might be thinking of is doing multiple smaller dies on a interposer which communicate directly with each other,so they can go with easier to make and cheaper cores - large cores are probably quite expensive to make, due to yields, etc.

Be Careful with ole Hibben, he's a bit of laughing stock to some SA members, and the king of cherry picking.

Then again most SA writers are the same, anyone can write there. :p
Mark Hibben is the worst Journalist just like Charlie who predicted Nvidia will get fold in 2015 by AMD.

It says overall staff and it AMD layoff continued till Q3 2016. Most of the layoff come from USA.

It says

No where does it say mostly from the USA, or that there are more in 2016.
