AMD Stock price: AMD (NASDAQ) $10.84 +0.05 (+0.42%)

NVDA (NASDAQ) $125.90 +4.61 (+3.80%)

So just because that link says Vega was developed in China means AMD laid off all the staff across the water? Looolll

You do understand companies have multi-teams across the world don't you!! Just That's like saying just because Rockstar san diego Helped make Red dead redemption, Rockstar laid off its staff over at Rockstar North LOL

Doom you really do bring a joy to this forum its funny to laugh at.

Nvidia also has design centres in China and for over 12 years. Seems to have some issue against design centres in Asia - funny since JHH is born in Taiwan and so is Lisa Su. These are global companies who hire talent from all over the world and have offices in all the major economies.

"marketing, sales promotion, customer service, and technical support in China," That isn't design.

Anyway, i don't really see it as an issue anyway. Silicon Valley is full of Chinese and Indian engineers, they have exceptional education and it gets extremely difficult to get enough Visas for them to join the US. There is a massive skills shortage and sadly Trump just wants to make the situation worse. Its going to be very common in the next years for R&D to be conducted in Mumbai or shanghai. There is some cost saving for sure but its more than pure cost.

that said, Nvidia is infamous for having a very large pool of extremely talented engineers, much like Google. They pride themselves on having the best of the best, and often over-staffing projects.

Both of you seem to have ignored the article.
BEIJING, CHINA AND SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA—JUNE 21, 2005—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), a worldwide leader in graphics and digital media processors, today announced the opening of its representative office in Beijing, China.

The new office will be responsible for marketing, sales promotion, customer service, and technical support in China, and will complement existing NVIDIA offices and design centers in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

Three design centres in China which existed before 2005 - JHH and Lisa Su are both Taiwanese,ie,84% of Taiwan is classed as Taiwanese Chinese.

Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hong Kong are in China last time I checked.

I am not talking about data centers or design centers. I am talking about architecture development.

What do you think a design centre is. Straight from Nvidia.

The Bangalore design centre will be modeled on existing NVIDIA’s design centres, with a state-of-the-art facility and data centre allowing top-to-bottom design of advanced graphics and digital media processors for a wide range of platforms.

Nvidia employees are really smart. They really make good architecture overall like for gaming, data center, professional purpose, AI, mobile, cloud.

I didn't ignore the article, I quoted form it. The new offices are not design related, the existing offices do some design work I know, that is nothing new. A good friend worked a few years at the Shaghai office doing VLSI research.

And?? What does that after do with anything? Maybe AMD want to have more GPU processes!! Maybe ZEN needed a place so the GPU manufacturing was moved. Acting like AMD only have one home! lool

Nvidia has had design centres in Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hong Kong which have been around for like 12 years and it is no news. I think at least one is involved in Tegra development. This took like literally a few seconds to find out.

AMD has one in China=doomed.

Aren't most people that work in this field?? You acting like Nvidia "poeple" are the brains of the world here Its getting better this guys LOL

Hold up here. Is Doom trying to disparage an entire race, saying their work and design is inferior?
Chinese People are awesome. However, my point is that western employees are seriously expensive to hire and Chinese people are not so this is the route AMD has gone to for to save money.
