AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

if that's the pricing then vega is a fail, not only they have no SKU close to 300$ ballpark, Nvdia already sold truckloads of 1070/1080, with low-mid end volta few months away.
all nvidia needs to do is to cut the price by 50$ for the 1070 and 1080, this will automatically renders vega useless, even if they decide to follow up on a price war and even if vega is slightly faster than it's direct competition.
this pricing if really stupid especialy for the low end, AMD could be gearing up to another break even architecture, with no market share benefit at all, maybe even pushing more towards their competition.
low vega cannot top 350$.

That depends entirely on the performance really though doesn't it. If low end Vega is only just below a 1080 then they absolutely can charge $400 for it. Looks like we might actually have some definite information in 2 weeks.

Nvidia are, they are fighting Intel and others for HPC market share, which id why they threw 3bn at Volta and decided that an 815mm^2 chip was still desirable, otherwise they would have waited for a a good 10nm process to come along. They are having similar battles in the autonomous driving space

Not even close to comparable to fighting Intel Head on in the CPU space

there is only 20% performance difference between 1070 and 1080, if low vega sits right in the middle with 10% difference from each, it's still too expensive this late in the game, a price cut on the 1070 isn't just a possibility, imo it's guaranteed, not that many ppl would pay almost a 100$ for 10% extra performance at a 300$ ballpark, AMD would get away with it at a higher segment like 500$ ballpark(1080) where value of perf/$ is less impactful.
add to it the 4GB against 8GB perception, even if it works perfectly fine.

To be honest I don't think the $400 price point is on the money - but mostly because I don't think they would leave a $200 gap between the 580 and Vega. It would be too large a customer segment to miss out on. I suspect we are going to see the slowest Vega at $350 and at that point a $350 card that sits between a 1070 and a 1080 would be a very tempting proposition.

If the lower performing Vega is $400 I think it points to the lowest Vega being at 1080 performance and The top Vega being a 16gb Card that outperforms a Titan.

If things end up repeating themselves the Nova will end up being faster than the 1080ti just like how the 290X is faster than a 780ti. I have really taken to dislike NVIDIA nowadays. When I got my 970 it used to be on par/even faster than the 290X but now it gets beaten by it in quite a lot of games

Yet another repeat of the Reddit rumours. It's like chinese whispers just going round and round.

Ugh, why don't AMD put a stop to this nonsense by releasing some actual info about Vega? Even just the picture of the box would be welcome at this point, it's better than nothing (and better than these BS rumours flying around getting reported by even 'legit' tech new sites now, I saw it on NCIX Tech News this morning).

Because there is a process for everything and before this year even started they already had a plan as to when they where going to release information.

I am sure we will know what is what at Computex. No need to start throwing the pitchforks just yet and 2 weeks away to find out exactly how much and what performance levels each will bring. The Vaxhaull Nova looks to be a decent card if it is indeed a 1080Ti competitor/beater at $600.

it's better to have them on the chip, because whatever cooling there is will be focused on the chip, while traditional GDDR module get stuck with passive, with temperatures exceeding 90° or even a 100°

Thanks for that, I was unsure of the ramifications of having it on the GPU package.

With that said, does the reduced complexity of the board offset some of the cost of implementing it? Surely it also means that you would have a less complicated VRM configuration, and less surface mount components also...

As you can see I didn't really pay much attention to the Fury X or whatever it was called :p

just 2 more weeks, then 3 more, then 4 more ... one year later ... two more weeks, 3 more weeks, in 4 weeks we will know for sure!

Not their fault you enjoy reading fake news websites. The date has always been H1 and we all agreed in this thread ages ago that likely means June. Last I checked June is not here yet ;)

I am not talking about the date the card becomes available, i am talking about releasing some information about it, two very different things. While I do enjoy taking the mickey and I am rarely serious ... AMD really needs to stop this cloak and dagger attitude, they are not in a position to keep secrets...

The only thing that seems to be left to announce is price and to how much power the spec we have seen (assuming it is not also fake news) translates to fps. We may get price and some AMD graphs showing best case scenarios at computex, but what really matters is independent reviews which we won't get until release.

Most people banging on about them releasing info have no intention of buying one anyway. Just here for the cheap digs ;)

My thoughts as well. There seems to have been a load if announcement deadlines that's sailed past.

AMD have said Q2 2017 since last year, not their fault you kept believing the rubbish spouted by WCCFT.

Hell all the dates and prices they've been writing about were rumors on reddit. Rumors posted as jokes with people there saying "my pal in AMD" "Just trust me" and more rubbish.
All just text posts with no source of anything.

As much credibility as someone random here just making a text post listing random specs, dates and prices, and just saying "trust me, my friend works there".

Really? Seems to be working just fine for them. Over 500 pages on this thread alone. All hype and speculation. EXACTLY what AMD want. Otherwise they would have released information. (And given all their arrows to Nvidia to act before they release).
Just be honest, you are being impatient.

Seemed to work fine for them with Ryzen, and now Threadripper, it's not like they have anything to lose more than they already have.
