AMD VEGA confirmed for 2017 H1

Who is going to buy a Vega card?

Absolutely but only if it's priced for its performance fairly. If not then I won't bother, will just grab something else or put the money towards an Xbox Scorpio.

If it only just about beats a 1080 then I'd only pay max £400 for it, if it trades blows with a 1080ti then I'd happily spend up to £550 for it. Always said I'd never pay more than £500 for a gpu though, just out of principle really as that's already stupid money, but will go the extra 50 for it if needed this time around.

If its close to or better than 1080ti performance for a similar price I'll def be picking one up. If it's a long way off a ti, even if much cheaper, I'll prob just get a ti. I can't imagine it falling that short though.

I will be, most likely, buying one immediately when they are available. But I don't want another hot GPU, so I won't be buying if they run hot.

This.

Undervolting my MSI 290 GE has been great for temps and noise, in the really demanding games, its max temp is 80 degrees with a max fan speed of 59% but unfortunately it still pumps out a lot of heat into the room.

Definitely getting vega if it runs a lot cooler than my 290 and so long as it matches/beats a 1080 for £400 or less, if not (which is highly unlikely considering the fury x matches a 1070 a lot of the time and beats it in quite a few non dx 12/vulkan games...), then I will just make do with my 290 till AMD's next gen.

Not sure if I will bother buying till later in the year though as:

1. barely playing any games atm and any game that I am playing runs superb as it is
2. summer! As above, little gaming for now...
3. if there are any issues on launch, be it hardware or drivers, they should be sorted out after a month or so hopefully...
4. any gouging from uk retailers should be over after the initial sales period

Not this time. My funds were swallowed up with the 1080Ti and the PG34Q (even though the Mrs paid for most of it). I would like one though to try out and always nice to review stuff :)

Jaysus, she's either very supportive, or now has you bound by some contract where she can forever go "well I helped you buy that overpriced console thing" :p

You still looking to buy in Q4 yourself? Or are you going to jump sooner?
Q4 is the plan (as above) I'm in no rush and by then I'll have a comfortable savings buffer that it won't sting too bad and hopefully I will have seen 1 round of price drops, bugs will be ironed out, reviews a plenty and driver's matured.

I will if it's around £500 for 1080 Ti performance. (or £400 for 1080 performance, that sort of performance per £ level)

3 main reasons really:

1. I'm looking for 1080 Ti level of performance, but want to spend less money

2. I'm interested in freesync, don't want to pay the Nvidia premium. And also there's talk of the 2018 TV's having freesync

3. I'm interested in the 2xFP16 compute power, since I'm going to be doing some deep learning things over the next couple of years (though I'll probably upgrade again at least once in that time, so this might turn out not too important)
