Sterling rate has reduced by 20-30% since then. Plus nVidia pushing up prices will only encourage AMD to do the same.
Guess we'll see in 6-7 months...

If by 490 you mean big Vega, then yes it certainly should. It's just a case of how much it'll be, and whether they have been successful in removing the bottlenecks in their 4096 core design.
On paper it has the potential to beat everything Nvidia currently has.
Will it though...? We'll know hopefully soon.

Vega going to be 5xx series not 4xx series. Any 490 going to be derivative of Polaris.

Look at crossfire 480 with some lower clocks for an answer.

If its a CF 480 card then no, it wont beat either.
If its a single larger chip then depending, may possibly beat the 1080. 1080Ti, it would need to be something powerful to do so. i.e 5000 shaders
