AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

In well-threaded games, which ask for threads, not for GHz, the core for core performance won't matter. Try running Ashes of the Singularity or Civilization VII with the 3900X at 2GHz and compare it with an i3 at 5GHz.

You've picked a specific example with a comparison I'm not making.

I'd still take any i7/i5 over an FX series for gaming. They just didn't have the core for core performance. They may perform better than the i3's of years ago, but either way you'd need to upgrade. I also was pro FX83 over the i3 though. I just didn't think they were worth the compromise of saving a bit of money over the i5.

The i5s from then (4460K etc) would do ok in most games now, sure. The i3s wouldn't though and that was largely the same price range. An 8350 today would run modern games but you'd be stuck at 30-40fps I imagine, though with an i3 in many you'd be getting such bad stuttering they'd be totally unplayable.

I've still got my 4770K, though I'm probably going to upgrade finally to a 3700x.

Like I say, I never rated the i3 over the FX83.
I considered the FX8320 the best bang for buck option as well. But people were pretending it was just as good a gamer as an i5/i7 and it just wasn't.

Same as I don't think my 3900X is better than an i9 9900K for gaming. But AMD have done enough for me to purchase them 3 times in 3 years.

I've even started to push to get them rolled out in my place of work. We've just bought 30 HP Envy's.
Few computer suites etc.

Sure, I was just saying it was the consensus that the i3 was a much better choice. It'd be interesting to see how these CPUs do these days. The 8350K has a lot of major stuttering in some recent games so it's clear 4c/4t isn't enough any more. I expect the FX83xx would be smoother, just much lower framerate.

I didn't even know an 8350K existed. I'd be disgusted if it really did stutter in recent games given how modern it is.

Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus have done loads of testing on recent 4c/4t CPUs and on the whole they produce high average frame results and bad 0.1% lows, sometimes with really bad stuttering. Even when they beat the 2600 or something on average FPS, the 2600 is considerably smoother with no . That's why they say to steer clear of all 4c/4t CPUs now and just get Ryzen for anything £200 or less. (Well, both say the only Intel CPUs worth considering now are the 9700K and 9900K).

Wonder how much the bung was from intel that userbenchmarks.com got?

I would bet on three variants: 1. Either at least $100,000; 2. Or some major support like free hardware upgrades of choice and future ones; 3. Or they just receive regular salaries from the big corp.

Look at this:

Aye, the EK block is quite narrow, so in the red orientation only about half of the chiplet has water channels above it. Not ideal.
It can be done !!!! Was thinking if its possible onthis design and thats what H'es done

guys using EK supremacy EVO. Try to rotate the waterblock 90degrees (did a temperature drop of 10degrees (celsius) for me.

10c is ********* !!!!

For intel it's clear - this is the beginning of the end of the big, bloated, too-big-to-fail corporation.
As per userbenchmark, maybe they want to face a class-action lawsuit? :D :D

I don't think the right word is "hate".

i9-9980XE vs i3-9300KF, i3-9300KF has higher "effective CPU speed": :D

This is a painted global class-action lawsuit impending.

Surprised you managed to find buy it. I can't see it sold anywhere apart from import
There's 2 sites selling it, but yes it's actually a pre-order i guess. The price is quite high compared to cheaper 3200 kits but not as bad as i thought it would be. I don't know how reliable either site is but it looks like one might be a bit better than the other.. (doh)
