AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

IF. This thread is going to be hilarious is AMD balls this up. Dont get me wrong I hope they dont, and I dont think they will, but it would be so funny to see the amount of sad emojis posted in one thread as it would surely be a new world record. It's like watching a kid waiting for Santa on xmas eve, just wait kids and you'll find out soon enough :)

Whats that Timmy, you wanted an Amiga, oh we thought we would get you the BBC Micro as you could use that for school AND games!

This is AMD, they definitely will balls something up. But hopefully nothing major.

Oh you mean when I bought mine? :( Haha nah I'm fine with mine as I'm not loaded so I just bought a 2060, and not for RTX, so for me it's actually a pretty solid buy. Not sure I would be saying the same had I bought a £1200 card that had space invaders pre-installed.
I just meant the launch in general. Remember? When they gimped cards buy a full number (2070 = 1080) whereas (1070 = 980Ti). Gimped dies and charged hundreds more for each card lol. Yeah people were mad.

Yes, saw the posts relating to this. Latency related right? Will a higher clock speed of mid to upper tier outweigh it by default regardless of if both clock to the same frequency top end I wonder.
Hardware Unboxed did some comparisons between 4+0 and 2+2 CCX configurations on the Ryzen 1-series and it made very little difference in games, which you'd have thought would be a worst case scenario.

With the newer cpus though, The link between CCXs (or chiplets in the new cpus??) (IF) has double the amount of bandwidth, which would mean that the inter-ccx latency won't be as much of a problem.
And with existing CPUs, half the cache is lopped off as well as a trade-off.
True but inter-CCX is different from inter-die. The latter is presumably worse for latency, particularly if it has to via the I/O die too (which I think is the case).

Oh yeah I remember it well :) It's amazing what complacency can make you do in the case of NVidia. Hopefully AMD shouldn't fall into this trap given they cannot afford any such complacency.

this thread is going to be hilarious either way.....if its a balls up there'll be a lot of red faced hombres on the amd side of the fence.....if they pull it off and blow intel out of the water there'll be red faces on the other side of the fence. then all the backtracking will start (whichever way the dice lands)
'but but but i didn't say that'.......'but but but that benchmark is useless'...........'but but but i use my pc for a very specific nicher than niche thing'.........'but but but i don't care, so there'

I'll be a bit annoyed if the "3850X" or what ever the fast 16 core part is doesnt release immediately. I've been saving since 2014 so I want and damn well deserve the best. lol.

I think AMD will save that for later on, it makes sense to me that they will want to create the initial hype and then wait a while to create more later on.

How on earth do you know you might be awake in 3 weeks time :) I barely know if itll be awake by the time I finish this post!
Being honest, I thought he meant 3am tonight :D

However, I have been working a lot with colleagues in Central America lately into their evening/night which has meant regular 2-3am finishes and sometimes even 5am finishes for me. :o

So these people are working until midnight! Are you running a sweatshop by video link from your bedroom :)

Cache sizes are wrong.
Clocks taken from AdoredTV leak.
Just a placeholder to draw google searches of impatient geeks.

How? depends what they are measuring, Rome has 2MB L3 per core

By that measure the 8 core would have 16MB, the 12 core 24MB and the 16 core 32MB

which is whats listed.

We have colleagues in Costa Rica, they are 7 hours behind us. So me at 3am, them at 8pm. Not "that" late for them :p

The sweatshop is my other side business ;)

I work with a lot of east coast US companies which really doesn't bother me, just means I schedule my meetings for the afternoon.
But last year for a while I was working with some Japanese companies and that was a ruddy nightmare.

Ryzen 3000 series available from the 2nd week of June.

Not 100% on this as I didn't hear it from the main source, but our buyers had a meeting with one of the bigger EMEA disti's yesterday afternoon and was told with a good level of certainty that there would be availability of some SKU's in June. I've asked nicely for them to confirm it with one of our main Taiwan suppliers as they'll be giving us news about the boards soon as well, and obviously will have had access to the hardware already. I know that we have some projects already lined up, and testing/validation requests have already been put in place to get this done as soon they are landed, hence I guess that is why anyone asked about the timelines.

Going to speak with the engineering team in a bit, to see if they know more as a few of them are in to PC's too. :D

last I heard boards (x570) are in resellers in July - but distribution and resellers are two different things - and then the grey area of Pre-orders which i recommend anyone doing it as soon as it appears

guessing if people are keen, Asus and Gigabyte use Netherlands as EU Distribution hub from china/taiwan - sure MSI is the same - should be a way to track shipping containers if your clued up

There is like one person cheerleading Intel - most people don't really care any more when it comes to Intel.

That started months ago; easyrider with his DAC justifying the 9900K purchase (which he promptly sold), and dg telling us that 720p PUBG is like the second coming of the messiah.
