Actually there was and still is a huge amount of difference between them :

Unless you are saying that all those with fantastic clocks and fantastic ram speeds running 2700's just couldn't be bothered to post them ? I don't think so.

I’ve not read the whole thread but there aren’t any 2700 results posted in the top 50.

Average clocks on Hwbot are a bit higher for the 2700X but then if you’re going to be clocking them most people will buy the highest bin. So this will skew the results.

What’s the reality 100-200mhz on air? Same on water?

This is the point isn't it? "the 3800X removed the CPU bottleneck" the performance on screen was higher than the 9900K but only just by a couple of frames, if they "removed the CPU bottleneck" then its not indicative of the CPU's performance compared with the 9900K given the marginal difference, if the GPU is the bottleneck.

The thing is if the cpu bottleneck is removed then they will performance the same, handing the work to the GPU. The GPU is then the limiting factor. If it's removed in all games then it's time for GPUs to step it up.

There is 1 2700 at position 23 and it's on a laptop.

The reality is @Minstadave the 2700x has always out performed the 2700 in clockspeed, but even more importantly in ramspeed as well.

My new build is starting to look expensive:
  • 3900x: $499
  • 32GB 3600mhz DDR4: £240+
  • Motherboard (Asus Strix x570-E?) £200+
Still excited, my 3770k has served me well but is showing it's age now. Don't mind cost too much so long as no more than a 9900K with comparable gaming performance and more future proof thanks to extra cores and pcie 4.

Im hoping they show off the 12c streaming, then they pull out the 16c streaming.

The video posted earlier with Rob Hallock on the Newegg YT channel, he was talking about how Twitch streaming has grown so much.. so a streaming demo has to be shown.
