AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

To clarify I did say "'hopefully' should" - i would certainly want to strap on a premium cooler if using 3900X with a Pro Carbon. If you didn't need the 12 cores the board would be more comfortable with a 3800X.

The cooler I have ran a 9900k all cores 5ghz @ around 75c full load...

But your post of course is pure conjecture...so don't for one minute think your suddenly in the know before any real world data exists....

If you didn't need the 12 cores the board would be more comfortable with a 3800X.

Well be both know...you pulled this out of your hoop....But most probably My B450 will run 3800x and 3900 just fine....

Oh and what does "more comfortable mean"? even BD on youtube was using the word Probably a lot....But x370 and B350 are questionable....depending on vendor and bios.

That was the criteria of the original question:

If you don't have an AMD mobo and buying into Ryzen the X570 is where I would put my money....But a cheapo X570 is not proven to be any better than a top end X470 or even B450 yet....

Unless you want PCiE 4.0

Of course it is - hence the caveat of 'hopefully' within my post regarding the 3900X.

It was you that posted the wierd emoji of being relaxed and seemingly in the know - which is why i clarified my original post.

What hoop? Are we reading the same posts? And are you reading and understanding yours - they're riddled with conjecture. The irony runs thick in your replies...

Jesus, you just asserted yourself that your board will "probably run the 3900 just fine". Are you a stream of unconscious thought?

That's what I said and was my affirmation to @tamzzy's post if you had followed the thread - but i'm beginning to thing you just spam the keyboard with your forehead.

/makes mental note not to post late on the CPU forum on a Friday night.

indeed. nothing is out yet. so at best we can do is speculate and make assumptions based on what is available to us.
hence:
even BD on youtube was using the word Probably a lot

but from past experience and what we currently know...
x570 has much beefier VRMs than x470 and b450. so by extension/speculations/assumptions/magic (or whatever you want to call it) on balance of probabilities...an x570 board's VRMs would be much better suited to running a 3900x/3950x
that's not to say that the x470/b450's aren't up to scratch...it's just that x570's are better.

Gotcha,

What an odd response...." Whoop-de-doo!" Rather than "nice temps mate"

Just post your findings with the hardware when its out....I will...

But dont post..."I'm game stable" etc....like the noobs on here who think they have real world experience of clocking chips...:p

Oh god - i should have taken your advice @tamzzy and i heavily advise that you don't "grind his gears", no matter how unintended.

Just post your findings with the hardware when its out....I will...
OK, for closure and an end to whatever this is you're trying to achieve:

I really would post my findings, if i had a clue what you're talking about and had i made any assertions that need backing up - other than i 'think' the 3800X stands a good chance (sorry, more comfortable) of running within a b450 Carbon Pro.

Problem is, i have the good sense to know that reading around topics before release does not guarantee any speculation - to clarify i may be wrong regarding 3800X. If that isn't clear yet - well i give in, you've defeated me, my brick wall is now spackled with my forehead.

Good luck with your "probably run fine 3900X" - and whatever your findings are to cover that - as you've added a caveat too (it's wise - which is why i did it - but seemed to make you implode with multiple posts).

GN, @easyrider - i'm knackered, and you're exhausting.

**EDIT: Why did you edit your post?

Gotcha,

What an odd response...." Whoop-de-doo!" Rather than "nice temps mate"
Not really, i meant it within the context of your reply - it's sarcasm.

But dont post..."I'm game stable" etc....like the noobs on here who think they have real world experience of clocking chips...:p
I'm going to take that as humour/olive branch - and accept it. (and i wish i was a noob i would be 20 years younger)

So GN @easyrider - sleep well, if you're as knackered and addled as i am you will.

Surely an X470 mobo is a perfectly viable option if you don't want to fork out for an X570? You're not really losing out on much.

It is but when it comes to MATX & ITX the selection of 4 series boards are drastically reduced, would any of the SFF 4 series boards even run a 12 or 16 core Ryzen 2?

Is there likely to be much difference between the grades of motherboard, it will it just be features? I'm hoping for 12 core, just because I want to future proof (the term annoys me, but I'm still rocking a 2600k so I might get 10 years out of the 12 core).

Seems to be some really mixed feelings including anger at these x570 boards. If you don't need pcie 4 and a load of M.2 then just get an x470 surely?

Sure the VRM's when you compare an £800 x570 to a £180+ x470 favour the former, but not but a great deal. I've zero doubts now that my cheapo taichi will easily run an overclocked 16 core. I'll gladly be keeping and skipping x570 as M.2 is a waste of time for me and half the features on my current boards wont get used.
