And after first adopters buy this AMD will release X590 revised chipset with proper pricing and passive cooling .
But is 1.2 enough for overclocking ?? Remember that screenshot from 16 core ?? 1.425 same az zen 1
the overclocked 16 core showed 245w and 151A at a stupid voltage.
@Nightmare: I wouldn't pay hundreds of pounds for X570 when AMD said X470 will work just as fine. Unless you need PCIE 4.0, but I can't see it will make a lot of difference in real life in terms of gaming and data storage.

I think I'll narrow down my X570 options based on features, then have a look at the pricing. If it turns out to be silly then I'll just grab the X470 Taichi Ultimate instead (currently £230). The VRMs on that will be plenty for 16 cores.@Nightmare: I wouldn't pay hundreds of pounds for X570 when AMD said X470 will work just as fine. amd in the past have sent out 'flash kits' so this may be an option this time round again. failing that i could well be able to send you my Ryzen 1600 to flash the bios if you were stuck as i'll likely be looking at a 3700/3800 or whatever is the best bang for buck gaming cpu.Plus I’ll need to either buy another CPU as well to flash it for support.
Some ASUS boards and many MSI boards support BIOS flashback. It works without CPU installed.Plus I’ll need to either buy another CPU as well to flash it for support.
True, but the new X570 boards support over 4000 with just an xmp profile. For best frequencies you ideally need to get a board with only two DIMM slots and use two 16GB sticks. Based on article here: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-memory-tweaking-overclocking-guide/4.html

Or alternatively store where you buy the motherboard can update the BIOS.
1.425 You call stupid ?? Thats my DAILY but 12nm hhahaah
Gigabyte offer a free service to update the bios for their boards as well.
So I need to buy the board, then send it to them? And they cover the shipping to and from?
Got a link to look into it?
For the current sockets they loan you a first gen Ryzen CPU rather than you mailing the board to them. Some retailers will update the BIOS for you if you buy an old board and CPU at once so worth asking CS if they will be offering to do so upon release.
