AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

It really winds me up when people state general performance in games using fps instead of %.
If a game runs at 60fps than 20fps is like 30% but if it runs at 400fps then 20fps is next to nothing...
I was the same, until I realised that not all people are me.

If they were it would be a boring world.

Chill.. Life's too short.

Yes consider he was testing on a x370 board we can expect more. I think we should expect a 20 fps increase over the 2700x or 2600x

3600 non X
Immature bios
Non x570 motherboard
2666mhz ram...

What more is there to say? That's probably the absolute worst care scenario for AMD Zen2..

Lowest tier chip, 1st gen motherboard without appropriate bios, rubbish ram when we all know AMD Zen cores like faster ram..

Anyone reading "AMD still suck" looking at this has their head up their rear end..

At its absolute worst case scenario it is competing with a stock 8700k... Let that sink in for a moment

We already know from 8 pack that older AGESA versions leave some performance on the table, and that's what X370/X470 boards are stuck with for now. It'll be interesting if anyone does some X470/X570 comparisons with the same chip.

Ah! The Master board will sadly be within a hair of the Hero from the leaked prices :(

The Taichi is on my pick list but i seem to recall BZ saying it uses t-top vs daisychain for the memory config. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out with 2 dimms.

8pack has already stated he has tested this with 3773mhz ram and it was fine he said in both 2 and 4 stick configuration...

Taichi I feel will be the goto board for myself and many others

Whilst this is true, x570 boards on the ideal bios are expensive, the ram you need for the best performance isn't cheap and the 8700k has been out for 18+ months. It will also all core boost with a basic oc to 4.7 virtually guaranteed. 4.8 shouldn't be an issue either. That's getting on for 10% extra.

The board prices have taken off the shine for me given you're left with x470 as a new buyer on perhaps lackluster bios for months possibly. The chips themselves look to be very competitive and well priced.

As someone just said, 8Pack said he tested 2 sticks and it was working fine. I think T-Top matters after 4000mhz+ or something like that.

But does that 8700k need a good cooler?

Found this in another forum.

"When 3rd Gen Ryzen launches, version 1.07.07 will debut and be the new preferred version. It also activates CPPC2 for 3rd Gen" - Robert Hallock

I agree that the x570 boards has definitely taken the shine off a little.

I was thinking I was just going to grab an MSI B450 carbon and throw a 3600 in it but not that simple, people moaning on the MSI forum that it's a beta only bios and due to MSI skimping out on a low memory bios chip they have had to dumb down the interface.

I want value for money and simplicity.

What motherboards are going to have two full speed M2 ports?
Or am I going to have to get adaptors?

I've currently got an M2 275GB Drive that I've got games installed on, but I want a faster one too.
