*** AMD "Zen 4" thread (inc AM5/APU discussion) ***

Hyperbole, much? :)

HUB's results were at 1080p with a 3090Ti on mostly medium settings and Steve acknowledged that at 1440p and up the GPU made more difference than the RAM. The real takeaway is that DDR5 that's comparable to DDR4 in performance is now similarly priced so there's no reason to stick with DDR4 if you're building a new computer.

Well, 4090ti and beyond could show a difference at 1440p also. But that remains to be seen.

I guess he didn't want the flack that's coming his way, why else would a marketing director time a leaving announcement just before the product launch.

That's why I said its an interesting time to resign for someone who runs a marketing department, right before your new product line is about to launch

Its due to innate tribalism in humans, apply to sports, cars, politics, and now billion dollar companies.
I get tribalism, I had my fanboy phases... still I wanted my "tribe" to excel (and was a pain in the ass to them up to VP level), not the others to fail.
You should win because you're better, not because the others get worse, that's the road to mediocrity.

At least Intel isn't getting complacent with the 13th gen:
"we have much more competition than we thought," says Silas.

"same architecture, same process" - discussing the 13th gen.

From my point of view, it's not an ideal product, since it reuses Goldencove, but that's nothing new. the most positive thing I can say, is at least you get better silicon, for CPUs like the 13900K and apparently, a higher clocked KS model too.

Obviously though, these exist purely to try to beat Zen 4, and could end up being even more expensive than the 12900K and KS on launch.

It sounds like Intel just wouldn't have bothered, if Zen 4 was no threat.

Interview here with Intel's Isic Silas:

I seriously don't get people wanting to see competing products failing.
Do you guys seriously want to get back to being milked for 5% performance upgrades at every gen?
For 300 quid you're not gaining any multi-theaded performance with Zen 4 over what was previously available at that price point from AMD.

how do you know that wasnt throttling ? And yes I'd go intel over AMD if pricing was similar single core was similar and better mt but than again AMD will be getting 3d versions later and zen5 normal and 3d versions, 13th will 1 chip platform and that's it

heres another leak for ya
