"will not be a no paper launch"
Fine journalism, there.
IIRC Piledriver was maybe 5-10% faster clock-for-clock than Bulldozer but they also increased their clock speeds by a good margin, similar to what Intel did with Skylake. Steamroller was between 10 and 20% depending on the multithreaded nature of the benchmark (presumably a ~10% efficiency improvement to their CMT implementation). Excavator is another 10% or so on average. Assuming an average of 10% per iteration, that's still better than what Intel have managed since Haswell. Of course AMD's starting point was so far back that it made no difference.Bulldozer > Piledriver > Steamroller > Excavator would have all been dribbling improvements had AMD not cut their losses at Piledriver.
the entire "Intel are raising prices" thing is pretty fallible.
Ahem
How much?!?!?!!
In fairness VAT has risen 2.5% since then and the Pound lost 20% against the Dollar, but still lol.
And its Clarkdale.
That's the point, the i3K is more the double the price of it's predecessor, even factoring in inflation/currency/VAT changes it's a ridiculous increase. Intel are hoping to extort customers as much as possible while they have the market to themselves
Compare that Clarkdale dollar price to that i3k dollar price (launch pricing) it you want to have a valid argument for a price rise.
How much?!?!?!!
Agreed, I paid less for my 2500k and I bet it'd compare favourably against that i3... except maybe for power draw and onboard GPU.
Zen going to drop in February 'according to rumor'.
Am def going Zen after seeing the 7700K xD
I wouldn't commit quite yet. We don't really have any independent reviews / benches yet. Nor do we have pricing.
What we do have is wild speculation that the 8 core 16 thread CPU will cost the same as Freddo bar, and will almost match a $1000 intel CPU (well, the last one might not be so wild, but I would await independent testing first).

You seen how much Freddo bars have increased? Dread to think how much they will be in 6 months time. I remember them being 5/10p!!
What did the ******* frog do? Get a mortgage and have kids???
