*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

that would be epic, i just hope AMD sell these as cheap as they can, with a bit of profit, just to make the whole CPU market competitive again. I would hate for them to go the way of just under cutting the intel cpu's with similar performance.

AMD need to try and flood this, decade long boring, market and spice it up.

a japanese site claims that while Ryzen 7 will see no shortage, the AM4 cooling solutions and motherboards for Ryzen may be in short supply.
which i think it will be the case everywhere, i need to jump on the mobo i want before it runs out, and my guess it will be the same for cooling and good Ram

seems vendors started making boards before they knew the numbers game as they are all middle-high end boards. Only MSI went balls out and their board is most feature rich followed by ASRock all giving 2 M.2s and flagship models. I know one company is releasing a end end version after launch, which will cost them market share. I wouldn't be surrprised if others follow with maybe an ASUS Apex x370 to break records .

lead to believe fault stems from AMD , not being forth coming and their marketing spend is a fraction of Intels.

I'll be buying a chip launch day but will be waiting for high tiered boards to come out, and they will

my problem is i always go for high end cpu's and gpu's but mess it up with the motherboards, this time round i will do my homework so any advice on the best high end am4 board please send my way :)

I'm looking forward to see what affordable boards and what AMD/Ryzen-certified RAM comes out, as I'd like to go relatively high speed, low latency. The DDR4 stocks look a little stagnant at the moment and costs aren't amazing.

That said the 16GB I'm using right now, cost me about the same as the DDR4 will so it could be worse.

Been watching this thread with great interest :)

I'm due a system upgrade with my 3570K getting a little long in the tooth now, although to be fair still going strong with a mild OC since day one.

If I upgrade to Zen, which I'm seriously considering, it would be nice to make sure it lasts a good few years again, although hopefully the new competition that AMD are bringing will mean progress stops being so stagnant.

At the moment although I'm tempted to jump straight in for a Zen I think its probably sensible to wait a couple of months for prices to settle and availability of chips and boards to improve. Gonna be hard to watch you lot showing off your new shiny builds though!

I'm ready to order/pre-order as soon as stock is live

My Z68-AP3 bit the dust Monday so I've got an itchy finger waiting to replace it. Hoping to see some 6c/12t or 4c/8t chips on launch as that's where my budget is probably going to fall

The GA-AX370-Gaming 5 looks to be a beast too, I was torn between that and the top MSI board for a while but have decided to go for the GB because it looks better :)

hold out, really cant say much more but hold out for Gigabyte if your looking at the 5 :D

also, anyone been watching their share prices.

Specially last two days, as the market closes and more details leaked, massive spike in the morning.
Now official slides have been leaked from the AMD event, im sure at 2:30pm their shares wll double from 14 to 31 in my mind

straight from Ryzen tech day, official cinebench, thx to Videocardz
and also Ryzen 1800X up on amazon 499$
guess we are not in rumor territory anymore

the slide should be -28% not -39%, the awkward math mistake during the presentation xD

Probably worked it out differently. 1537 is 138.7% of 1108 :p

my problem is i always go for high end cpu's and gpu's but mess it up with the motherboards, this time round i will do my homework so any advice on the best high end am4 board please send my way :)

Im the same, ill certainly be investing a bit more money into a better mobo this time round. ill substitute a 1700x for a 1600x and put the extra into a better motherboard, im just hoping Asrock release a gooden

time to buy intel on Ryzen launch day :D

If you was going to buy a high end AM4 Mobo, which brand would you personally be buying? im tempted by the Asrock Taichi, as i like the white / black and blue aesthetics, but if theres a more featureful board from a different vendor i could be swayed :) So if you was buying, knowing what you know, would you day 1 buy or wait a few weeks as something else is coming?
