Dam more motherboards on OCUK can buy everything from one place now.....
Indeed, I was looking at another retailer that had the Asrocks. Quite tempted with the taichi with 12+4 phase, might be slightly better for OC than the 10 phase from Asus? Although it doesn't mention 3200mhz RAM like Asus.
Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
All of the boards around that price seem pretty similar in terms of features. The ASRock K4 and MSI Pro Carbon have the benefit of having two M.2 slots compared to the Asus Prime's one though. I think I'll probably go for the MSI personally, as I've been pleased with their products in the past.
It doesn't matter if a game takes advantage of "more than 8 threads". It matters if it uses more than 4 threads, because 6 real cores will be faster than 4 real cores + SMT. It ultimately depends on how loaded those threads are and the implementation within the game engine but generally a 6c/12t chip should best a 4c/8t chip if the game is using 5+ evenly loaded threads.
I've got the Giga B350 mATX Gaming 3 on order, as it looked the best of the two mATX that were up yesterday. However there's now the:
MSI B350M Mortar
Asrock AB350M Pro4
Both look pretty tasty... not sure what to go with now!
ASROCK make awesome boards but if its a faff to change your board I would probably wait until the launch dust has settled as they will surely launch a 14 Phase OCFormula board. If not then just buy one for now and swap it out for a OCFormula later.
any hard info on the max memory mhz for the 3 released ryzen chips...
Personally I would not buy a board with a single M2 slot.
Most people don't want to run M.2 RAID 0
I feel like the OCF boards will take a while to come out. So that they can better analyse the situation and come up with the best design. The Matx Z170 OCF took forever to come out for example.
So if the 6C Ryzen top bin is 3.6GHZ to 4.0GHZ,I wonder if XFR will boost clockspeeds higher than with the 8C parts??
The MSI looks like like it has better power component cooling and supports 3200Mhz RAM OC where the Asrock only states up to 2667Mhz
thankyou just what i was looking for
I have been looking at these two and think the MSI has better IO, ie SPDIF for audio.
Yeah starting to lean towards the MSI. It's annoying as I usually go ASUS, but their mATX offering looks terrible. Haven't had an MSI board in years.
The X370 Killer SLI looks pretty dam good for £145 ...... if only the 1600X was out :/
Does anyone know if the am4 adapters for various CPU air coolers increase the height of the heatsink? The larger ones at 165-169mm are already very close to the case side on towers.
is there any way to filter the am4 boards in the oc shop by sata port count, or is that wishful thinking....
