Great stuff thx for the link
was waiting on this one for the numbers to be crunched
My 1700 comes on Saturday.
Woops.
I've got two 1700 builds to do then.
Was going to get 16GB 3200MHZ RAM and the Crosshair as I was getting it on finance, but opted to just get 2666MHZ RAM with the Asus Prime.
25 pound a month for 24 months, so can't complain.
Evening all
Hoping for a little help just built my Ryzen 1700X on a Taichi board with 32gig Ram LXP Vengeance 3000mhz have a few issue i'm hoping someone might be able to fix for me ?
First issue ram seems to be show 2133Mhz ?
I swapped Dram frequency to 2666 but still nothing ?
Another issue is i'm running my old OS's SSD drive as i wanted to make sure it booted up etc but cpuz shows nothing on my memory slots too ?
Also when it boots up i don't see a screen that tells the Ram cpu etc like i use to on my intel 2600 (american megatrends)?
Last issue ( so far) is when i power the pc up it starts to boot then seems to power then boots then up again and boots windows ?
Thank you.
Ryzen doesnt like odd numbers for ram timings and it has certain boards have issues with certain ram kits. The double power up you describe sounds like ryzen ram training. If it fails it will restore to defaults then boot.
Set ram to 2400 and timings to 16-16-16-16-36. If it boots successfully try 2600 and so on. Then try lowering timings, but ryzen does not like odd numbers for timings.
Don't be afraid to increase CPUSOC voltage to up to 1.175v to try and get higher memory stability. Likewise you may need to increase DRAM voltage up to 1.4 or 1.45v to gain full stability with high memory speed and a high CPU overclock.
What's really interesting is the second half of the video; where they try and figure out WHY it's all happening and they just can't figure it out.
Also worth noting that GTA V is one of the worst performing games for Ryzen as well, and yet despite lower performance, it's far smoother over all due to less severe hitching.
I mean really now, 160-260ms stalls on the 7700K is nasty, and they clearly show it in the video as well.
Ok so now running at 2400
So what should i try next for 2666?
Thanks
Ok so at what point do i need to try that ? ( sorry for sounding dumb )
Also is there no boot screen on modern boars like my old one ?
Thank you.

Corsair vengeance LPX ( red )Yes keep going until you start to have problems. Then when you reach your happy speed try lowering the timings. What is your exact ram kit?
Pretty sure we have the same RAM, I have mine running at 2666mhz timings are 14-15-15-15-30 voltage has been bumped slightly from 1.35v to 1.375v seems to be working fine I can get it to run at 2993mhz but the timings have to be loosened off a fair bit, I think I had it at 18-18-18-18-36?
Also with the boot screen, they just show a splash by default, I think there is an option somewhere to show a more old school boot screen, can't remember what its called though.
Ah only just noticed 32gb, you might be stuck at 2666 until amd release new updates. 2x8 seems best for higher speeds.Corsair vengeance LPX ( red )

Thanks again
The buyers remorse is kicking in already.
Not so much.Wish you chose faster ram?
That's fair enough if I can get 2666 then so be it till hopefully a bios update .Ah only just noticed 32gb, you might be stuck at 2666 until amd release new updates. 2x8 seems best for higher speeds.
