2nd Gen Ryzen (whatever they decide to call it & whenever they decide to launch it) will be AMD's equivalent of an Intel Tock, essentially an optimisation, but with the added benefit of not needing to change your motherboard to handle it.

Yeah I don't get this either. Could be the numbers are wrong or there's actually an IPC regression somehow?

The 2200G and 2400G have 4MB of L3 cache and the Ryzen 5 1500X has 16MB of L3 cache. The Ryzen 3 1000 series CPUs and the Ryzen 5 1400 have 8MB of L3 cache.

The 2400G runs at 3.6GHZ~3.9GHZ and the 1500X at 3.5GHZ ~3.7GHZ and has an XFR range of 200MHZ.

Even at max boost clockspeeds that is only a 5% advantage for the 2400G which is not much.

I predict for more lightly threaded stuff there shouldn't be any difference in IPC,but with stuff which can tax more cores it might be a few percent lower.

However,remember the Ryzen 1000 CPUs AMD used were benchmarked with 2993MHZ RAM and the Ryzen 2000 CPUs were benchmarked with 2667MHZ RAM. The use of a single CCX might be more significant for older engines which are not fully aware of the dual CCX design,so it would be useful to see if the Ryzen 2000 series APUs are better in those kind of games.

Why is the R5 1500X not being retired? From that chart, the R5 2400G has higher base clocks, higher boost clocks, a lower price, and an integrated GPU...

The R5 2400G looks like a great competitor to the i5-8400: similar clocks, similar IPC, a much better IGP, and a lower price. Also there are supposedly price cuts coming but I don't know if it'll have any effect considering AMD's CPUs have been on sale way below starting SRP for half a year at least anyway.

Prob a good low bin for that die and due to larger L3 cache (4x) as a selling point. Performance may well be ahead of the 2400G in many tasks.

2400g sounds like what I've been wanting since Ryzens release. This, in a good ITX board with a PCIE SSD, would be ideal for me!

I've not much interest in buying a new platform until DDR4 prices are a bit lower though... :'(
Maybe in 2019 :/

Just asking as you will at least know more than us and Gibbo was due to be having drinks with some guy's from AMD. If you don't then you don't but it looks like people are pointing towards April when before it was end of Feb beginning of March.

Haven't seen Gibbo for a while. I bet AMD have kidknapped him again after what happened with ryzen first time round :D
