American Truck Simulator

Just 2 states to start with then I guess

I think I saw somewhere that it said Arizona is coming shortly and going to be free too.
They do say they would like to cover the whole of the US, but obviously depends on sales. Plus, other than the ones mentioned the rest will be paid for states.
They also said it will take years to do. But its a good game ETS2. I'll end up getting this, no doubt.
Years of development, is how I like my games. :D

Was pleasantly surprised how good ETS2 was, so can easily see me accidentally acquiring this.

However, I can't find a truck list. Seems some forms of Peterbilt and Kenworth will be represented, and probably Volvo. No mention of Mack, Western Star or anything else, but then there doesn't appear to be anything definitive in the public domain yet...

I saw on the dev blog we may only start with two trucks as they're still trying to acquire all the licensing rights to those brands. It could end up like the earlier versions of ETS2 though where we had Majestic instead of Mercedes etc.

This'll be a day-one purchase for me, regardless. Happy to support the devs that are finishing the game before releasing and provide regular updates after release etc.

does anyone know what the scale will be for the map? thats the real vs game scale I think with ETS2 its was a 15:1 scale..

Can't imagine it being any different, presuming they're using the same game engine etc?

I read somewhere, can't find it right now, that the scale will be different from ETS2.

You need steam to run the game or can you do without like with the last game?

If you buy retail version then you shouldn't need steam.

Can I ask what the enjoyment is in these games for people?

I've play ETS2 but I can't say it really grabbed me. Did a couple of hours on it and then thought "why am I doing this?" Wondering if I should give it another go.

I ask myself the same, like why am in doing this 900km run, but i can listen to podcasts whilst i play, cant listen to the radio too much these days so its cool.

With the multiplayer addon adds so much its sad but you can sit back and drive.
Bought the game 3 weeks ago touching 100 hours played atm, i just listen to podcasts whilsts driving, The game is so relaxing!

I love it and i know i shouldnt but i do :/ :)

Just make sure you use this addon

Just one of those games you have to give some time. It is very relaxing as said above, plus its quite entertaining building a transport firm and employing drivers etc.
I'm hoping for more varied road layouts in ATS, because the motorways in ETS2 can become a little repetitive.
But its a great game with longevity, how many games give you that nowadays.

Might have to give this a go when it's out - I have ETS2 but like some others, it didn't really hook me but I can certainly see the appeal. Just one of those games that you need to work on, plus with a country like the US it will feel very different once all the states are added, should give some nice road trips .:D
