From the options it has to be C64. As much as I loved the speccy the 64 had better games for me as I played my first Infocom adventure on the 64.

If the Amiga had been on the list, well an easy win there.

I voted for the Spectrum. Loads of games and the ability to program your own, which I did many times. This was the PC that got me hooked. The Amiga should have been in the poll as it beat everything else that came before it by a country mile.

I never owned a BBC micro, but it was a proper computer for the time and everything about it was done correctly, all the rest were jumped up games machines.

It still stands up today as a usable tool (as Monserrat demonstrates)

This poll seems to be which was the for games

I had a BBC micro and for hacking about it was great. I got to the stage where I could look at a hexdump of a program and start figuring out what it did.

I have to admit that for games the speccy and C64 were generally better, but ELITE still rules!

My family wasn't wealthy enough to buy a C64, nor middle class enough to lumber me with one of those dreadful BBC's.

I would've happily settled for a Speccy, but my mates had various incarnations (48, 128 +2 and +3) and they were always a bit on the flaky side. In the end I got a CPC 464 and loved it. Hated Dizzy though. :p

Oh and just to get in on the mud slinging fan boy hate. The C64 was far too drab. It had no soul! :D

I only had a Spectrum from that lot because that's what I got given as a present. If they were all out as the new systems I would probably go for the C64 for the best combination of hardware/games though I don't know enough to say for sure.

Although I loved it at the time, when I moved on from the Sinclair ZX 128K+ to the Commodore Amiga A1200 my mind had an orgasm that lasted several years. :p

I actually had a BBC Model B, Spectrum 48K and C64 in the early 80's and I wasn't a spoilt B'stard, so I still can't quite work out how? I know I had to send 6 C64's back though!

It's just not the same any more, I'm not talking about nostalgia as such but can anyone of younger age really say they get excited about picking up the latest games mag? or the thrill of picking up all games in general?

When I was younger I felt this, but I think it was because the games were something to look forward to. Last time I was like this was GTA V and I think the time before was GTA IV! :p

Had pretty much all of the above at some point in life. I have to say the C64 is the one I spent most time on.

Action Replay cartridge made 'backing up' your games easy and the pokefinder general ability was superb.

Games wise I can probably name 90+ out of the 100 games video - I also still have my C64 which is packed away at present but if I get it out in the future I'll take some pics - I still have the 1541 disk-drive as well.

Favourite games - in no order:

Elite
Bubble Bobble
Ghosts n Goblins / Ghouls n Ghosts
Green Beret
Maniac Mansion
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders
IK+
Microprose Soccer
Emlyn Hughes International Soccer
Creatures
Spy vs Spy
Mercenary
Exile
Turrican
Finders Keepers / Spellbound

I could keep adding games - I still have around 300 of them (originals).

Feud was epic but, in my humble opinion, the best port of it was on the Toshiba MSX. The sound / music and gameplay was much improved but it was a **** of a game to beat.
