An Akasa Eclipse slow build ZZZAC

Did you sleeve the cables? Or buy extensions?
Extensions, that's why theve fraid at the ends so badly, the heatshrink was poor, but hey ive had em a good while and abused them allot. Though when i find some cabling im going to build and braid my self all the front panel wires.
now i would definitely go with a fan like the one in the link to match with the cable extensions. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-002-CS
Yeah they look nice
But, im changing out all the extensions to orange and black and i have a Big heatsink in the post
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-099-TR&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2352
and hence will get the matching fans (after i check that there 120mm framed)
i dont like my green fans, and they will be getting replaced, along with the extensions and heatsink (my heatsink is battered, been thrown around since my zosma build)
other than that, A radiator grill, a fan controller, somewhere to isolate my hard drive, and some carbon or white carbon wrap to finish it!
People... White or black carbon?
Nothing good will happen till past christmas now! unless your really lucky ;)

I've always found fibreglass reinforced disks to be better suited to metal sheet. Less bang bang eye loss too :D

Yeah... i should have probably brought some safety specks, i did have some and i was wearing them on my forehead like a proon! and boom, cutting disc exploded.... and hit me right in the forehead... ironicaly covered by my safety specks,
Was like WOOOAH! that was close to my eyes and casually carried on!

Very lucky you never got eye damage. Gonna be using a dremel soon and the exploding disc's don't sound like fun.
as far as it goes ive had a few hit me and they didnt hurt, im sure if they hit me in the eye, it would be like running into a twig... allota pain for a bit but it wouldn't give me too much permanent damage.

Though.. for the price, get some saftey gogles! im going too when i have some money :)
tbh it mostly only happens when you give it a bit too much welly :D

you know you should back off a bit but you venture forward then @*"~ :p
Yeah... you should barely touch the surface your cutting, let the tool do your work... else it will eat your FACE!

Have you not thought about braiding/using braided extensions for the white front panel connections ZZZAC? I use a set from akasa in my eclipse.

You can just make them out in the above photo.

Cheers setter
not much of an update but after lots of threatening to take asus to court and reading of there T's&C's and the trading standards i landed myself a 7950DCII V2, witch is revised and doesnt have the gpu contact issue, also has a custom pcb rather than reference.
So after christmas ima drop a tempory Sapphire reference 7970 (as soon as its back from the czech republic) and then get my DCII replaced, and use the newer DCII... especially if it clocks well. but i may justify keeping the 7970 instead. IDK yet.

Other than that, nothing to report. probably nothing good worth a mention till monday :)

I'm impressed. I was expecting another epic fail thread but you've gone at this, thought about it and turned out a decent looking rig.
Even ordering one of the FP extensions myself now aswell!

ZZZAC +1

Thanks, It hasn't even turned out IMO, there's going to be allot of changes to come, well.. that's the plan at least!
Dependent on what Santa brings me and what time i get free there may be a nice update tomorrow.
Then ill be waiting for my 7970 back (for a stand in of my 7950 while its replaced)

In the mean time im still wandering weather to leave the psu mounted down and use my spare top panel.
And i Also have to figure out the vinyl wrap im going to use, so i may have to start a poll. White maybe a little too much, im really not sure!

So heres a list of my plans
*"7950 DCII" replaced with "7950 DCII V2"
* Maybe a set of Orange and black extensions
* Beefy new heatsink
* New Ram-8gb 2133mhz
* Replace the side window with a new tinted acrylic?
* replace case fans
* find a way to isolate the hard drive
* get a fan controller depending on fans?
* Vinyl wrap the entire case-what colour guys?
* maybe change the top pannel?

Please input any ideas, as you can see im unsure about allot of these.
Thanks

Sig is too big, did you ever watercool?

If that was aimed at me, i dont know the history of the card but if the person who owned it before me did a very good job of making it look untouched.

Oh, and also there's an update storm brewing ;)
wont be posted till later though :)

So turns out i was on santas nice list this year...
What could this box be?

Not knowing how the heatinsk mounted i got really worried the anchor plate wouldn't fit due to all the components around the cpu area.
img0532bw.jpg

And after lots of pulling and prying getting the old backplate of, i slapped the new one on!
img0537lt.jpg

spacers and anchor plates installed
img0538tu.jpg

and the heatsink just fits!
img0539xr.jpg

Fans on! (set in pull-push-pull so i can access all ram slots, as i may go 16gb)
img0544cs.jpg

and system back together. getting the wifi card in was really really tight!
img0546pw.jpg

And ill reeve you with this.

Ofcourse i was expecting to get more done... but my new cables are in the post and i need to order some more stuffs to keep updating the rig!
So.... Merry Christmas, sorry the update is not so big :)
