An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

~57 FPS with quality mode is borderline for a good experience with frame gen - need a base FPS in the 60-70 region really to reduce noticeable latency and visual artefacts to non-intrusive levels.

Yup I always aim for at least 60-70 fps anyway, which is entirely possible with a 5080 OC and dlss. Even with fps in 40, I'll still take FG on over no FG though, I can adapt to extra frame latency within 5 minutes especially if using a controller.

Not really sure this is worth fifty quid.

It isn't.

Don't get me wrong - I'm enjoying it. But they needed to do more for £50 really. This is just a pretty skin over a 20 year old game with minimal other updates.

It's an excellent Game Pass release. But if I didn't have that, I'd wait for Skyblivion. I reckon that's going to be better anyway.

Around 40 feels horrible to me not just a bit of latency but there is a swimming effect to the input lag and if you turn around quickly all kind of weirdness going on visually with objects warping slightly, etc. I don't know how anyone finds it acceptable personally.

KCD2’s forest's/flora have spoiled me :-(

KCD2 in general is just a far better game than this.

Oblivion is fun for the nostalgia trip. But Kingdom Come is definitely the new bar for this type of RPG two decades on. I would have loved to see Oblivion remade to 2025 standards. But the remaster will do.

Aye. After completing it, i felt a bit empty. And that doesn’t usually happen! I want more stories with Henry and the crew !

I'll play it bit by bit, but tempted to put it aside till they fix the LUT in the game... Using reshade it looks so much better, but it hammers performance even when using Framegen!

Hopefully devs are on top of it, as so far they are silent when it comes to any upcoming bug fixes, changes

Tried a bit on Geforce Now Ultimate on my M3 MBP (14") using WiFi. Every setting cranked at 4K base with DLSS on balanced and FG on. Running at circa 90FPS in the area around the Sewer exit and up to Imperial city (seems to align with general performance of an actual RTX4080 in this scenario based on performance reports from others). Plays quite nicely even over WiFi which was quite surprising. Would only better on Ethernet (note we have a 900/900 direct fibre connection although based on the usage stats could get away with a lot less).

Need a new GPU for my main PC (not even going to try it on the ARC A750) so quite interested to see proper benchmarks done between 9070/XT & 5070Ti/5080 Tier models. For me any GPU would have to hit at least 50-60FPS before Frame Gen to avoid the disconnect between what I am seeing and feeling.

KCD2 currently is my leading contender to be my GOTY but I dont actually see KCD2 and Oblivion as the same subgenre, I wouldnt compare the two directly, if we are talking new releases I actually feel like the one thats closest in gameplay style would be Avowed , though oddly enough despite Avowed being a 2025 game, Oblivion compares rather favourably against Avowed.

trying this on gamepass and its running pretty sweet on my radeon 7800xt and ryzen 7800x3d with fsr on quality and framegen on and very responsive as well my native res is 2560x1440p :)
