An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Lumen even hardware Lumen is a bit **** IMO. It still has far too many of the limitations of traditional rendering in places which should be entirely eliminated with proper path tracing.

Howcome? Does Lumen do RT Reflections?

Finally, the toggle of Screen Space Reflections is slightly misleading. If you are using Hardware Raytracing, having Screen Space Reflections on overrides the reflections that Lumen provides. Turning SSR off will give you much better reflections.

I've turned of SSR, and reflections look a lot better.

im running the software lumens on high if i turn on hardware it tanks my fps. 7800xt

i still remember running the original on a geforce 5900xt and as soon as i came out the sewer it was horrendous and i played half the game with the oldblivion mod untill i got my radeon x800 gto, ironically that was the last nvidia card i owned :)

I couldn’t get it to work in game pass version, just says to restart game to enable.
I just enable it in the nvidia app on desktop, not with the overlay when in game.

Best to turn off SSR if running hardware lumen.

Yup I saw this first posted on reddit etc. and tried myself and can confirm RT reflections look absolutely glorious now  Turning it off removes the awful SSR artifacts, seems like a bug or something where this isn't auto turning off despite lumen being turned on.

Need a new GPU for my main PC (not even going to try it on the ARC A750) so quite interested to see proper benchmarks done between 9070/XT & 5070Ti/5080 Tier models. For me any GPU would have to hit at least 50-60FPS before Frame Gen to avoid the disconnect between what I am seeing and feeling.
Saw this posted in another thread if it helps at all.

i tried this for about an hour and its sort of just meh? i loved skyrim, never played oblivion originally so maybe im just not the target for this game. ill give it more time and hope it clicks. probably doesn't help i just finished cyberpunk again for like the 5th time.

I done that but when going into the filters and adjusting the sliders nothing was happening so I don’t think it’s actually working.

With all the fuss about this at the moment I figured I'd take a ride down nostalgia lane and try it on gamepass for £1. I am glad I did as I found it absolutely boring to play through.
I have played them all from Daggerfall, Oblivion, Shivering Isles, Skyrim and all the expansions and, at the time, loved them immensely. However I just cannot get into this remaster. Maybe it's because I have done it all before in the past, Or maybe I am just too old these days for spending huge amounts of time to run back through it all again with nicer graphics.

It just felt...dull. And I never thought that was a feeling I would get coming back to Oblivion.

I am not nocking the game as plenty will get their enjoyment out of it but sadly this one is not for me. :(

precisely how i feel

At the end of the day it's a remaster not a remake. The core gameplay is still 20 years out of date despite the improvements to levelling.

You'd be better off trying Avowed IMO.

Thats 4.5 times more than I managed to finish Cyberpunk, so maybe just different tastes :)

Avowed was pretty but ultimately bored my pants off. ill give oblivion more time, i think my gaming mojo is just down, i haven't been enthralled by anything for a while now.

I think i will probably have to just accept that. Though i adored skyrim and fallout 3/new vegas.
Could just be that your tastes have changed then, you loved Cyberpunk enough to play it through 5 times but are not clicking with Avowed or Oblivion, are there any genre similar fantasy games that you've enjoyed of late? Maybe what you have experienced is a shift to more liking "scifi" than "fantasy", the swords and monsters genre is after all a heavily saturated one, easy to tire of it. Bit like myself and zombie games, so many of the damned things that I'm tired of fighting zombie hordes (likewise zombie tv shows and movies come to think of it, tired of so many zombie tv shows and movies, cant say that I'm even bothered by 28 years later, saw the trailer and just thought oh look, zombies again)
