but if i was as mentally challanged as the average Apple user, i would have a Mac..

Again, I'm not overly an Apple fan, but what are you, like 10 years old? Since when did brand preference have anything to do with mental ability.

Also, I'd imagine the average apple user is probably a web developer or graphic designer etc so probably not that mentally challenged :p;)

Ho ho ho. But my PC can actually be made use of, you know, for work and stuff? It's not just so i can look cool. It's not an oversized and useless iPhone.

But i'm glad you mention that, and thought someone might. Because i actually need a high-end PC for my work... but if i was as mentally challenged as the average Apple user, i would have a Mac, that costs more, doesn't use as quality compnonets, has out dated video card, and a CPU that isn't as fast and cant even be overclocked.

What a stupid statement.

You would have to be a fool to buy an iPad, no two ways about that. All the points in that post i made on the previous page should have made that clear enough.

And i am a web developer, graphics deigner and 3D artist, but sadly a lot of other people in my line of work are surprisingly computer illiterate and like to waste hundreds of £'s more on inferior handware (which is all standard PC hardware anyway now in macs) for the sake of having a apple logo on there machine.

My previous post should explain why I want one clearly enough. So that makes me a fool does it. Just because 'fingerprints are annoying' and 'it's slippery'?

Also, computer literacy surely has nothing to do with Mac over PC or vice versa, personal preference really. I don't understand why people get wound up over it.

I'm guessing other people in your industry who can write various programming languages and deal with graphics and 3D models wouldn't consider themselves computer illiterate. There's definitely an aesthetic quality to Apple products which probably appeal to designers and people that are in to image. I'm not one of them, I look like a tramp :p

Can anyone tell me the deal with importing one from the US? Will it work over here straight out of the box?

Am getting annoyed with the lack of info from Apple over the UK release and price. The US have had far more notice over price, pre-order and availability yet we have nothing.

It's now time to calm it down in here otherwise this thread will just get locked.

This is not a PC Vs Mac thread.

PCs are Macs, and neither had even been mentioned. People are just pointing out what a pointless product this is, which is generally what you do in a 'pointless product thread', is it not?

Wow. Charming.

Edited out rest of post after seeing Feek's message. Keeps things OT.

I agree, I have to say, I've been trying to budget for one on release, but it's pretty bloody hard when you don't know what they are going to announce. If they say the 16Gb is £350-399 I'll go for it, if it's more than that, I'll import one. It's potentially less than three weeks away if the rumour is anything to go by and they need to pull their finger out if they want to get a strong launch like Stateside.

I think calling people considering buying an iPad fools is a bit harsh. I am definitly not an Apple fan, infact first thing I did at my new employer was cancel the PO's for new Mac and replaced 'em with PC's.

I am however thinking of replacing my flagging home laptop with an iPad. I use the laptop for surfing the web and email and frankly not a lot else, the iPad fits the bill and I'm sure others are in the same boat. I have a high end PC rig for my Photo editing and c#, I wouldn't dream of doing eithere on the laptop.

You're entitled to an opinion but no need to insult people in the process.

.

 so an Iphone is not useful and an Ipad is useless. Crawl back down to GD, you seem to be lost.

And no I'm not an apple fan. But the IPad serves a purpose and it will be a very popular device.

Where's that article about new vs old computing.

An OS you can infinity customise is going out of fashion.
A limited but hugely user friendly OS is the system for all portable devices and most consoles and computers.

I for one am outraged that my strong opinions on something I have never used are not being greeted with the respect they clearly command.

Ah, but Mr Feek, you appear to be confused. This is a Mac forum inside a PC forum generally populated by prepubescent boys. Mac Vs PC bashing was an inevitability I'm afraid.

The thread's done, may as well close it now.
:(

Really?? you really think it's a useful device? a device with no USB, no flash support, over priced, limited fuctionality... at the size and price of a laptop. A laptop which can do way more.

And i never said iPhone was useless, what i meant was the iPad is basically a oversize iPhone.

BTW i have no doubt it will sell well, especially with people around that will buy anything Apple, no matter how utterly useless it is.
