I think you guys are trying too hard to convice yourself it's worth buying.

Put it this way.. and this is for all of you.... if this was not made by Apple would you really consider buying such a useless product? If someone admits that they would not buy it then, i'll repect you atleast for that.

Hand on heart, YES, I don't care who makes it, I've wanted a device like this for years, (I'm sure Star Trek played a big part in that :o), I really really believe these kinds of devices are the future, it has nothing to do with it being an Apple product, it comes down to it being the first 'web tablet' that has been released that seems really usable in terms of it's form-factor and battery life, and at a reasonable price.

You seem to be judging the iPad's usability based purely on how functional the device is compared to a laptop, that is wrong, the form factor is probably the most important aspect of the iPad, that is what is going to make it a very useful product for many consumers out there like myself that have been using an oversized laptop running a bloated OS, poor battery life, heavy, no instant on etc just to surf the internet and check my mail.

Funny, IM actually a Graphic 3D design producer and also have work in producing and remixing tracks as well as producing advertisements in a deadline conscious workplace, that cant use PC
because or reliability and poor work flow, so umm...actually...the point of macs is that we don't have to be bothered about all the stuff in the background, ya know, the stuff ya don't use for production. SO instead of wasting hours over work time sorting conflict problems or hardware driver conflicts (PC coundnt work under the Furtre Proofing system that we use in Advertising production, cause all those nasty TIFF and PSD and Ai files that Pcs dont nativity like.
This is all totally off topic but i want to reply... and i dont mean to sound rude, but going back to what i said earlier, this is a good example of Mac users generally being more computer illiterate... or you're stuck in the 90's.
First of all Adobe support is better on Windows.
I've no idea what you're on about when you say "TIFF and PSD and Ai files that Pcs dont nativity like."
Maybe the last Win OS yo used was Win98? All this stuff works perfect on Windows7, i have the whole Adobe CS4 master collection installed. And it's certainly faster running than on any mac. I can prove this with benchmarks. And again for speed, theres no Mac that can compare with my system. I can get far more work done on my PC compared to my Mac using work mates, especially when it comes to demanding things like Rendering, and video encoding. Every peice of software opens much faster aswell, simply because you cant get this sort of hardware from a Mac store no matter how much you spend. Plus with PC's you can easily OC a CPU to gain more performance, which is extremely easy these days.
The reliability thing is not a issue, my PC is on 24/7 with no isssues, this isn't Windows 98 days anymore.

The entire floor went back to MAC....irony being was that it was supposed to save the company millions dumping the macs for decent PC that where better specced but realized the payed hours per week sorting PC problems out across the company cost them more than buying us all iMac MAC PRo desktops.

So dont try the 18 yr old never worked in a big production house with work that has to be done in 5 hrs to dealine/ print, because ive been their dont that worked it and ive been a team leader for the 3D/ Sound stuff for nearly a year now, so I know my stuff more than you could ever imagine.

In fact ive come to know that anyone that uses that remark as a selling tool for PC's have never really worked in the field.

I've been doing this work for over 15 years, and you have a completely different experience here to what i've had. They were obviously cheap right, as thats why your company switched to them.. end of the day, you get what you pay for. They certainly wasn't like the one in my sig were they. Most of the people in one of the web design studios i work with have switched to PC's.
And wouldn't be surprised either if the PC's your company used was some time ago with a old Win OS. Win7 is atleast as reliable as any Mac OS, and more secure. At every hackers convention OSX gets hacked quicker, even the hackers themselfs will tell you OSX is less secure than Win7. The only thing thats keeping you Mac users safe is your low market share - it's not worth a hackers/virus writers time.
